Best club in my bag!
I could just state that this club is incredible and leave it at that. But I want you to understand WHY I say that.I purchased this wedge (the 59 degree) a few weeks ago, took it out in my front yard and practiced with it a little bit. Felt pretty good and I was excited to get out to the golf course.First round I played I started off at the putting green and was chipping off of various lengths of grass, but still couldn't quite get the hang of it on a consistent basis. During the actual 18 holes I probably used the wedge a few times...one where I had to shoot over a bunker out of some thick rough. Chunked it into the bunker. Took two tries to get out of the bunker and then I threw it up over the green and into more rough. I have to admit...I wasn't thinking very highly of this club!!A week or so later I played another round of golf at a much nicer course. I got out on the range and started warming up going through different clubs. I had maybe 20 balls left and decided that I was going to practice hitting with this wedge. Sure enough, I skulled a few of them and they when flying ahead like I'd taken my wrath out on the balls with my putter! But then...I hit one pretty good. Nice high arc and only 10 yards or so off from my target. A few more swings and I was consistently having the ball roll up within 5-10 yards from the flag.During the round I was gladly using this wedge to get myself onto the green...anywhere from just a couple of feet off the green to 25-30 yards out and over sand traps! Once I started figuring out that I could hit the ball where I wanted with a straight arm swing with little to no wrist break on the back swing....it was fantastic! The folks I was playing with started asking me about the club. I had 4 pars on the front nine and another 2 on the back nine and that wouldn't have happened without this club in my hands. Just FYI....I'm generally lucky if I get ONE par out of 18 holes. This club has changed my game! These are well made, and they slide right under the ball, even on the fringe, when you hit it right. I can't believe what a difference it has made in my game. If you have the same troubles that I've described....get one of these clubs! Practice with it so you understand how it works...and your scores will be dropping.Thank you XE1 for making this club!

Best club in my bag
Lets start off by saying I bought the 59 degree club.I am an average golfer at best - normal score is typically mid 90's. Most frustrating range for me was inside 60-50 yards and around the green, I am notorious for skulling the ball, hitting it in half or coming up way short. I felt that if I could ever get that part of my game under control I would improve dramatically, worst feeling is walking up to your ball knowing you have no chance to set yourself up with a decent putt and score.I was mulling around buying a new wedge, but wasn't ready to buy a $120 mistake only to become more frustrated, so I never pulled the trigger. While browsing Amazon to see if I could find a solution less expensive I stumbled upon this club. I read the reviews and thought, hmm could this be it? I decided to pull the trigger and at the price it was really worth at least a try.I played my first round yesterday with this new club and I am telling you I took off a minimum of 6 strokes if not 8. Wow I cannot tell you what a difference this club made in just one round. I am not a golfer that spends time at the range and went straight to the course and played. First time using the club I was about 30 yards out and remember reading a review where the reviewer said to take a normal swing just adjust the back swing in proportion to the distance. I did and the ball went up and came down 3 feet from the pin. Needless to say I was extremely satisfied with the result, but will it be consistent? After playing a few more holes I gained more confidence with this club and I was consistently leaving myself between 3 and 6 feet from the pin.In conclusion, this is now the most favorite club in my bag, I no longer fear those near green shots because I know I will hit them more so then not. Yesterday I shot an 89 which is the first time I broke 90 in years and easily shaved 6-8 strokes from my game. This club is a must for anyone that needs help around the green.

Not a miracle club
This review is based on my experiences with the xe-1 65°, cleveland 58° smartsole wedge and titleist sm5 60°.the xe-1 is easy to use in the bunker for short distances. And definitely fly higher than a regular lob wedge for chip and pitch shots. I find it hard to fly it past 45y on my regular swing (3/4), which means I have to swing harder than usual, and my thinned shots are more severely penalized because they fly farther. On a tight lie, I see no benefit over a regular lob wedge (vokey sm5 60° 10° bounce).I have it on the bag because I have only 13 clubs on rotation and thought that it gaps well with my 58° wedge. That said, for a 30yard shot, if the shot would permit it, I would favor a 58° smartsole over the xe-1 65° simply because I find the cleveland more forgiving/consistent (due to shorter swing/ less loft).I use it on 2 occassions only, for very short bunker shots and pitch/chip over bunker on a tight pin. Our greens are very small with lots of bunkers so I find this club useful. For full shots, long and short pitches I find the smartsole 58° more consistent and forgiving. For chipping, I have the cleveland smartsole Chipper as well.
