RMR-86 Instant Mold and Mildew Stain Remover Spray - Scrub Free Formula, 2 Pack - 32 oz

First off , I am stating my personal experience with the RMR product in review. As with many of the other reviews, I must caution that the RMR mold and mildew remover is hazardous to your health if you don’t follow all of the directions. Plus, you absolutely must use the proper PEE equipment to insure your own safety and health. For me the basic requirement for use would be a full-faced respirator and chemical resistant gloves. Also, proper clothing to cover any exposed skin. I my opinion, the RMR mold remover is made for professional use or for others who have the equipment and experience to safely use it. I consider my a life long DIY person and have used many cleaning products in past years. I read the product reviews and was made well aware of the negative effects of using the said product. My neighbor is old and handicapped. He asked if I could check his bathroom commode for a leak as his bathroom floor was flooded. When I checked the bathroom there was a obvious leak under the sink and apparently it had been leaking for a while. On top of that the was serious mold on the shower and the walls and ceiling. I repaired the leak and did a search for mold removal product. I read about the RMR and ordered the gallon size. When I first started using the RMR I was not using any PPE equipment. I thought that I could spray a small area and leave for fifteen minutes or so and that would suffice. That turned out to be a big mistake. After serval sprayings the fumes were overwhelming. My throat and eyes were burning and I had started coughing almost violently. I left the area and after several hours a returned with a half-face respirator I had and some eye googles. Also I had the window open and a box fan running to pull the fumes out. The respirator was working, but the safety googles did nothing to stop my eyes from burning.There for I am recommending a full faced respirator. I manage to finish the mold removal, but paid a heavy price on my eyes and lungs. Now that you have heard my experience with RMR mold remover, I will tell about the product. To make things very clear, my lack of caution and preparation is on me. The RMR mold remover works as other have stated. The product works almost instantly and in most cases there is nothing left to cleans, but nonetheless, I did wipe the areas down with a clean towel. I can’t fault the RMR product in regards to its effectiveness. I have never used a more effective product in the past. I can rate the RMR mold remover five stars, but with a caveat and warning concerning the hazards to one’s health if the proper equipment is not used.

Worked very quickly and awesome destroyed all the black mildew on the grout, and results held out a lot longer than when using the traditional paper towel towels, soaked in peroxide. Not sure where all the drama comes from about everybody needing to wear hazmat suits and respirators for this stuff. I wore gloves and just made sure to not get it on my skin. It had a strong smell, not unlike that of bleach, but it was not bothersome. It just smelled like a pool , highly recommend.

This is a STAIN REMOVER, the Mold KILLER is another botanical spray sold by the same company. Proper mole remediation steps are: **FULL PPE, Goggles, respirator, and suit*** 1. spray with the mold killer (the other bottle you buy) Let it sit 2. spray with THIS STAIN REMOVER (full ppe, I'll explain more below) let sit 3. spray with the other botanical smell reducer, or the original mold killer botanical to balance the stain remover and confirm no more mold will grow. 4. remove all PPE after confirming all areas are free from the chemicals in the air and surfaces before letting other people in. 5. rinse your whole body in a clean, untreated shower and put on clean clothes. Those are the real steps to remove mold. This is just a stain remover and the mold will likely return. Although it takes a while and looks really clean in the meantime with just this spray. NEEDS FULL PPE, Body suit, mask, eye covers, everything covered. I used to work for a mold remediation company so that's how I know the proper steps and that full PPE is needed. I got lazy and started spraying this small bottle around thinking "residential size" "small bottle" sold on amazon to anyone" so it should be fine just to spray around for the stains after cleaning, I'll just wear a fullshirt and long pants...... WRONG I had no PPE, only fully clothed and thought was being 'careful' and somehow got some of the chemical on my body. Upper left chest area and upper left back areas are effected. Exposure was almost four weeks ago and I'm still unable to wear a real shirt (only a cami with the strap up on the right side, strap down on left and half of a bra the same with the right side up only, my left side has been completely exposed for at least three weeks while my skin heals. (picture is somehow flipped, used front phone camera) this has kind of ruined my life. this whole time I have had no video calls (I'm a business owner) no in person meetings, I've been out of sight this whole time, which kind of works these days anyway. There were three solid days of screaming pain deep into my nerves on my back and front chest areas. This stuff somehow got into my pores or something, but I could feel my actual nervous system work. When my system triggered it was like stabbing electric pins traveling around up and down my spine and out to my back shoulders and back. It was soooo painful!! meanwhile my skin was blistered and all different colors. I couldn't put patches or anything on it because it was painful and I didn't want to disturb the skin (it would probably peel off at that point) so I kept dabbing water on it and would apply numbing cream a few times a day at least (I'm now down to twice a day, sometimes three and can shower every other day at least now) At this point it is still healing, there are some bad spots left, and the pain is moderate, manageable and seems to tingle/tickle/sting at this point, so slowly but surly it's getting better. The attached picture is just of my back and is about 3.5 weeks after exposure so WELL into the healing, Imagine what it used to be!!! BE CAREFULL with this, FULL PPE for your own good!! I'm a tough person and super optimistic so I got through this thinking the next day would be better, what a mistake I should have went to the hospital asap. I might be better off today if I had. So if you are exposed, don't take any chances and go to the ER ASAP. It crept up on me slowly after exposure, so SHOWER right away after use!!!! Exposure day: felt nothing, totally active Next day: what is that little bump, did something bite me? (on my front upper chest) Next morning: husband and son say (ewww mom, what's that rash on your back?? looks gross! (started as a red blotchy rash that poked out from under my sleeveless shirt) 3rd day: This stings and hurt and owe owe owe, holy crap, can't even wear a shirt... can't sleep, every movement triggers my nervous system.... and it got worse and worse for the next few days..... 5th day or so - ok not as painful as yesterday, I think I'm on the mend now.... just keep applying the ointment and caring for it with water until it heals.....(still in major pain but that was the turning point and has been slightly better each day since) today is One month later (almost to the day) this picture was from about a week ago. the back part used to go from a little on the other side of my spine, all the way up to my neck, down to where my bra line should be, and all the way to my shoulder and under my pit a little bit. You can see in the picture that it's reduced a lot. the skin that is healing seems not to have a scar (I'm worried about the deeper parts but will wait till it clears out and will be using those scar reducing patches) just don't want to put anything on it yet, that stuff is actually healing pretty good on it's own, every day I wake up better and better. I just started working out again two days ago and am pushing myself to continue, but going three weeks without my normal routine has me feeling like I'm in a rut. :( not ok Hopefully soon I can wear a shirt and the rest of my bra!!! Right at this moment, it itches and burns, I'm not touching it, just water dabs with a towel and numbing ointment still. What a nightmare!! Don't wish this on ANYONE so PLEASE HEED MY WARNINGS and instructions for proper use!! This picture is after almost four weeks of healing, it was so much worse and SUPER painful. If you think this looks bad, imagine 10x worse so be CAREFUL (I was careful too, wear full PPE!!!) Also, yes, the bottles tend to decay because the chemical is too strong. This stuff will 100% leak if it's stored, this is not meant for storage. Use what you use and send the rest down the drain, rinse the bottle a few times and recycle it. If I weren't a stupid idiot about it it would be 100% product review because it really does what it's supposed and I think it's the only thing on the market and it's used by professionals too. So be professional about it! :)

This is one of the most amazing cleaning products I have ever used. It helped me clean my moldy bathroom and restored it to pristine white within minutes. However, to safely use this product, you really have to treat the product and cleaning procedure like a science lab. The people who are having problems with this product aren't. Here's a mini science lesson for you all. Mold have spores that protect the cells and keep them alive under *extreme* conditions. This product is DEFINITELY strong enough to destroy the spores and therefore successfully keeps the molds away. I've sprayed my bathroom months ago and take extremely steamy showers. Still no black or pink mold anywhere. Now here's the catch, in order to destroy spores, the chemical has to be pretty strong... This stuff is advertised as 5x stronger than other chemical cleaning products. The directions on the bottle even asks you to check the MSDS. Think back to chemistry lab where you have to take safety measures, follow instructions carefully, wear goggles, gloves, and cover exposed skin. Remember, this is a VERY POTENT BLEACH. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to use the product. Just know this: 1) If you are working in a small room, ventilate the area before spraying and for long after. 2) Put on a MASK and maybe even goggles. COVER ANYTHING YOU DON'T WANT TO BLEACH. Wear an apron if you're wearing something nice while cleaning. The stream/spray nozzle will splash the product and bleach whatever it touches. You really don't want this to get on anything other than the thing you want to clean. The blue pants I wore have white spots with pink halos now. 2) DO NOT INHALE and THOROUGHLY WASH your hands and anything the product might have touched with water. THOROUGHLY. 3) **MOST IMPORTANT** DO NOT THROW AWAY THAT SCREW CAP THAT CAME WITH THE BOTTLE. Unscrew the spray nozzle and screw the original cap back on to store. ** This last step is where I made my mistake. As a person who's worked in chemistry labs for years, I should have known better. I treated the bottle as any other cleaner and thought I wouldn't have a problem storing it with the spray nozzle still attached. WRONG. The directions aren't explicit enough when it says "Cap bottle after usage." I thought this meant screw the nozzle tighter. You have to close it shut - air tight - with the original cap!! Otherwise, if you store it with the spray nozzle still attached, exactly like how I did and many others who gave bad reviews, the solution leaked out of the spray nozzle and ruined all of my cosmetics and toiletries in the bathroom cabinet. It turned my paper boxes into goop, melted off the waxed paper coverings and revealed the aluminum sheets that lines wet towelettes, and glued the bottoms of the boxes into my white cabinets. I didn't realize what had happened until I saw that a brand new product box had been bleached at the bottom. I picked it up and the whole bottom came off. PEOPLE, this is a highly volatile, highly potent bleach! Treat it as such and it will be a dream to clean whatever mold and mildew you wanted to get rid of. Treat it as anything else, and it can quickly turn into a nightmare. Seller, PLEASE make the safety precautions and directions more clear.

Ok, seriously, if you’re brave AND a home owner, BUY THIS. This is the literally the BEST product for mold or mildew i have ever used. YES, it may need to be evaluated by the Chernobyl Nuclear Assessment Team down the road, but PLEASE let me explain and leave some application pointers #1) If you're not using PPE + a respirator, make SURE you only plan to work on small patches at a time, and in a well ventilated area you can get in and out of to fresh air quickly. I cannot stress this enough. This stuff is STRONG. As in...BLEACH x about 5. You can Taste It. Do NOT BREATH IT! If you can, hold your breath, hold the bottle at a safe distance, spray the area quickly, then runaway! “Spray. Then Runaway.” #spraythenrunaway #2) Get a CLEAN towel and place it under the door crack of the room you run out of after spraying. use it, ALWAYS! Clean towel is your buddy here. #3) After 15 minutes, Hold your breath and check out your progress carefully. It dries VERY quickly and the smell/fumes drop to a good 1/2 of what they are during initial application. Again, wait AT LEAST 15 minutes before checking. More mold? Spray a bit more in the areas that need it, ...runaway #spraythenrunaway, ....wait 15 more mins and check again....same process as above. #4 Repeat protocol until about 15-25% of mold or mildew remains. #5 WAIT 2-5 HOURS then check again. At this point, the mold should be almost 100% gone. #6 IF more application needed, repeat process again as many times as needed, ....then proceed to fortune and glory. My Actual Spray Process I used on our Bathroom Window Casing: 1. Remove Blinds. 2. Cut large piece of cardboard out to use as a mask for window vinyl, steel or fibrex behind the wood casing. 3. Grab paper towels, about 10 squares and fold them into little wads that can be stuffed at the bottom of the window sill's left and right sides to catch the runoff from the vertical side casings. 4. Grab a small ziplock bag to store the used paper towels in and keep them sealed up and the fumes contained. You can just leave that in the sink. 5. Get a fan and set to low about 3 feet from the open window and blowing toward it. 6. Grab your cardboard and your RMR 86, take a deep breath, hold it....hit the left side wood casing, using the cardboard as a mask for the window behind the casing, hit the right side, same process. Do NOT try and do the top casing, or spray will potentially come back down on you and get on your skin. Don't overspray. Just hit them quickly enough to cover each side. About 15-20 seconds total should be fine. Stuff paper towel squares in the lower right and left window frame, runaway! (for me, I closed the door behind me and stuffed a paper towel under it. Worked like a charm as the smell never got into the rest of the house. 15 minutes later, I cautiously walked back in each time, smelling carefully from a distance and as I approached, as I said, the fumes and volatility drops a LOT after the first 15 minutes but is still STRONG! I removed the paper towels used to capture the runoff in the lower left and right sills, sealed them in the baggie, dropped it back in the sink. Then went outside the room to fresh air, took another deep breath and repeated step 6. Our casing was BAD, so I had to hit it about 4x over an hour. For me, and because I was doing such a small area with plenty of ventilation, I did not go full PPE or respirator. I used long dish gloves, goggles and held my breath each application, keeping the airflow via a fan pushing air OUT the wide open window and as to move any overspray or fumes outside asap. The first application, not a lot of difference. Second, BIG difference. By application 4, 85% of the mold and mildew were gone and we were looking at CLEAN wood. Next morning, I checked and the mold was 100% GONE...so this stuff KEEPS working long after that 15 minute mark. I'd say it likely keeps working up to 24 hours after application so expect to see additional progress on the affected area up to a day later. For the TOP casing, I waited until the sides were treated as explained above. Then 2 days later, I used the same ventilation setup as before. This time, I grabbed a paint brush, poured a tiny bit of rmr 86 into a plastic cup, and lightly painted it onto the top casing, still wearing gloves and goggles. It took more applications...i believe 5 or 6, but was a lot less stressful as I was using so little of the stuff and the fumes, although still bad, were no where near what spraying did. Each application, I'd let sit 15-20 mins, and I kept the paint brush and tiny bit of RMR solution in a cup in the sink so I could just grab and go each new session or dump out with running water. This worked well on the top casing as it was no where NEAR as caked as the left and right sides were, but something tells me, spraying/aerating this stuff out of the bottle must increase effectiveness, as it IS a corrosive and reacts with O2. I'd say if you're doing ANY job larger than what I described here, go Full PPE with Respirator and make SURE the room you are working out of is well ventilated and siphoned OFF from the rest of the house. If you're just squirting a few corners of your bathroom...1-2 squirts, 1 area at a time, then gloves, eye protection and lotsa of ventilation should be fine. Higher up areas, I'd recommend the paintbrush trick. And I'd personally NEVER try and spray multiple areas in the same room...I'd do 1 at a time and leave. Even a few squirts in a few areas adds up fast, and you don't want to create a potential "fume trap" by which you get a breath of lingering spray and burn your lungs/throat, etc. Not worth it!

Thia thing is amazing!!! It really works within seconds and removed some mold that no scubbing could. Excellent for hard to reach areas too, crevices in the shower door, just spray it and wipe or rinse a bit later. It does have super strong chlorine smell, so if you are sensitive like me and have a closed shower maybe wear googles and mask - it made me tear up. That said will continue purchasing!! Nothing nothing nothing as I ever tried worked like this!! I wish I took before and afters.

This stuff is a game-changer. I had some stubborn black mold spots in the shower that I’d been scrubbing at for weeks with regular cleaners and nothing was touching them. Sprayed this on, walked away for a few minutes, and the stains just lifted right off. No scrubbing needed at all. The bathroom looks brand new again. Super easy to use and the bottle lasts a long time. Highly recommend if you’re dealing with mold or mildew.

I ordered RMR Brands Complete Mold Killer and Stain Remover Bundle—2-32 ounce sprays because I had a nasty stain on my kitchen wall (see photo). A bag of sugar snap peas had rotted at the top of the trashcan and was evidently touching the wall (don’t judge!). I thought the stain was mold, but as I used these products, I saw that it wasn’t, but rather the dried residue from the rotting peas. Here is what I did: RMR-141 Disinfectant, Fungicide, and Cleaner 1. Because I had read in the reviews about the odor of the products, I first opened the patio door and the bedroom window (we have a small apartment). I turned on the exhaust fans in the bathroom and the laundry room, and the ceiling fan in the dining room. I also placed a stand fan in the living room and one in the bedroom, and waited for about 30 minutes for the air to flow well before I started using the products. Turns out RMR-141 has no odor. 2. I read the instructions on the purple bottle, that of the RMR-141 Disinfectant, Fungicide, and Cleaner. NOTE: USE THIS PRODUCT FIRST. 3. I opened the seal and inserted the provided pump. NOTE: THE PUMP COMES IN THE “SPRAY” POSITION. BE CERTAIN TO SCREW TIGHTLY; EVEN THOUGH I DID, THE PRODUCT POURED OUT OVER MY HAND LATER WHEN I TILTED THE BOTTLE. 4. I sprayed the area on the wall thoroughly, starting at the top. The stain began running down the wall immediately. 5. I then waited for 10 minutes as per the instructions. 6. Wearing glasses, a mask, and gloves, I used a wad of paper towels and made one swipe through the middle of the area so I could see how well the product worked (see photo). I was impressed. 7. Then I scrubbed the wall. 8. I applied the RMR-141 a 2nd time and immediately scrubbed the wall again with no waiting period. Much more came off the wall. 9. I applied the RMR-141 a 3rd time and waited another ten minutes. 10. I scrubbed the wall with paper towels again. 11. I sprayed the wall with RMR-141 a 4th time and scrubbed (see photo). 12. I sprayed a 5th time and scrubbed with a thick crevice brush (see photo). I actually took the paint off down near the baseboard. 13. Then I was satisfied I had gotten the wall as clean as I could and I let it dry for an hour. RMR-86 Instant Mold and Mildew Stain Remover 1. See #1 above. RMR-86 DOES have a strong odor reminiscent of bleach. 2. I read the instructions on the green bottle, that of the RMR-86 Instant Mold and Mildew Stain Remover. NOTE: USE THIS PRODUCT LAST. 3. I shook the bottle well, as the directions stated. 4. See #3 above. 5. Wearing glasses, a mask, and gloves, I sprayed the area on the wall thoroughly, starting at the top. 6. I watched for 15 seconds, as per the instructions. There was no change. Keep in mind the stain on my wall was NOT mold or mildew, which is what this product is for. 7. I rinsed the wall and floor thoroughly with clear water. 8. To avoid the possibility of any sort of chemical reaction or contamination of other items, I put the paper towels and gloves used with each product in separate gallon Ziploc bags before putting them in the trash. Dispose of chemically saturated towels, rags, and gloves responsibly! 9. I left my apartment open to the air for two hours. Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase. The kitchen wall will still have to be painted eventually, but the performance of RMR-141 was impressive. I can’t speak to the performance of RMR-86, but if the reviews of other buyers are anything to go by, it, too, is an incredible product. At the price point of $23.99, this duo is a good value for the money. Even with the glowing reviews I read before buying, the performance of RMR-141 exceeded my expectations.

It promises to remove mildew stains from concrete and stucco. We followed the directions exactly and it made absolutely no difference. I wasted $90. I got better results with vinegar. Very dissatisfied.
