Review: Easy, Delicious and Reasonable-Size Cakes - I heard a great review for this cookbook on the radio and purchased for gifts and one for myself. The cakes are easy to make—no mixer needed. Variations are included for each cake so that you can make it to your taste. I like that these recipes are quick to make and I just use a wire whisk to mix. The cakes are one layer, using a loaf pan or a single 8” or 9” round pan or square pan. Super easy to whip up a cake for dessert anytime. Frosting recipes are in a separate section and the cookbook is divided into sections for types of cakes such as the chocolate section. I just made the Almond Butter Banana Cake which includes almond butter and ripe bananas which made the cake super moist and great for breakfast or any other time. I like the small square hard cover format with photos of the cakes. Really a lovely book that I actually use! Every recipe I have made so far is a winner! Review: Amazing! Highly recommend! - Absolutely love this book! The recipes are not overly complicated - but always impress! The directions are easy to follow and include staple ingredients I almost always have on hand. If you want to bake impressive cakes without all the hassle of trying to make it look like you're on the GBBO - this book is for you! **My copy is a little dirty just from use - it did not arrive like that :) What I REALLY love... - beginning of the book goes into detail about the method of making your cakes, storing your cakes, best equipment to use and the importance of the the ingredients you use. - in the back of the book are the recipes for all the icings, frostings, caramel, whipped toppings, etc. which is great! - every recipe can be made in an 8x8 pan so no need for an entire cabinet full of miscellaneous cake pans - but you are always given baking times if you want to bake the cake in a 9" round & sometimes a loaf pan - equipment needed is also minimal so clean up is always easy. I had a stand mixer and hand mixer, but almost always mix all of these by hand, unless i'm making a buttercream frosting. - the author gives suggestions for flavour variations - my family LOVED the jam swirl cake so for Thanksgiving I followed the recipe for plum & cardamom variation. I couldn't find plum jam so I used apricot jam and it was SUCH a hit.

Quick, easy and tasty
Snacking cakes is the GOAT for easy cakes. I make these on repeat for my family because they’re quick and always delicious. I even “healthify” them sometimes (less sugar, cut oil with applesauce or yogurt, sub whole wheat flour) and it’s of no consequence. They always turn out just right. I have never used a cookbook more in my life than this one.

Surprisingly fun!
I'm not much of a baker. I leave dessert contributions for others unless I can make Jamie Oliver's Almond Puff Pastry. So I bought this thinking I'd see if it worked for me. I read the reviews and felt compelled to give snacking cakes a whirl. Now I've read through the book and am not disappointed. I've learned a lot about the ease and great ingredients for these simple cakes. That in and of itself has made this book a success in my eyes. Next I'll start at the front of the book and make each cake except the ones with buckwheat ... I'm allergic. But there's so many more.

Perfect for beginning bakers
My 13 yo is learning to bake & this book has been perfect to help her hone her skills & build her confidence. The recipes all use the same method, so after I helped her with the first few cakes she’s been able to successfully try new recipes (mostly) on her own. She has really enjoyed flipping through the book and imagining new and unique combinations to try. I think the most enjoyable part of cooking is when I’m able to exercise my creativity with flavor combinations; this book has given her that experience in a very reliable, accessible way. 90% of the cakes have been delicious and we’ve probably tried at least 15 at this point. Our favorite by far is the chocolate malt cake (we leave out the mint) with a white malt glaze (we sub malt powder for 1/3 of the powdered sugar). It tasted just like an Oreo cookie! We also love the white cake (she added sprinkles for a funfetti vibe). And the pineapple upside down cake has been made several times already… yum! I hope you enjoy this book as much as we have!

Must have for your cookbook collection
This is one of my favorite cookbooks in my entire collection. All the recipes I've tried have been super easy, with easy to obtain ingredients. The pumpkin olive oil cake is so good, so is the coconut lime cake, and the powdered sugar donut cake is one of my favorite cakes of all time. All recipes have converted easily to dairy free and gluten free for me as well. These recipes are great to make with kids too!

Delicious and Easy recipes
I have only tried a few recipes but the ones I’ve made are simple and delicious. And best of all made in one mixing bowl. They are small cakes which is really nice. You will not need to continue to buy the tasteless ( or incredibly expensive) baked goods from the grocery store.

Best cookbook ever?
I have a lot of cookbooks, and this one is my current favorite. It's the best. I have a three year old, and we love to bake out of this book. The recipes are easy, one bowl cakes that in general are not too sweet. I generally do a half recipe in a 5 inch springform cake pan with great success. We've made (in the month or so we've had it): The berry ricotta cake (INCREDIBLE, so moist and delicious I've made it like three times) The brown butter white chocolate pecan (also incredible) An apple walnut one (pictured - delicious, but didn't keep well) The spice cake (slightly spongy texture day 1 but it improves day 2)

Fantastic for the busy baker!
I love this book so much! I’ve had it a week and already baked 3 different cakes. I really like how the author offers alternative ingredient and baking pan instructions so you can adapt the recipe if you don’t have what’s called for. I also like the use of grams in the ingredient measurements because it allows for accuracy. Most of the recipes can be made in a single bowl with a whisk making it so easy! I bought 2 copies. One for me and one for my best friend. We are going to attempt to bake every recipe in this book throughout 2024. She bakes with a toddler so having a simple one bowl recipe will be great. I also want to point out that even though the recipes are simple in method they are not simple in flavour. The book has so many interesting and original cake flavours and combinations, some of which I would never have thought of. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to bake a cake with out all the faff of getting out a mixer.

Favourite Book
This book is perfect for whipping up quick and easy cakes! All you need is a mixing bowl, whisk and spatula for any of the recipes. I’ve loved all the recipes I’ve tried so far, very balanced and not too sweet.

Always the first book I reach for when cravings hit
I LOVE this cookbook!! It is my go-to snack cake book now. Love that most of the recipes use melted butter (no waiting for butter to soften!) and the same size pan throughout.
