Buyer Beware - Lacking Many NSF Certifications
I started out looking for a replacement filter for my fridge. Searching on Amazon I was baffled by the variety in price and options-- with almost everything looking the same. I picked this based on price and reviews. In fact, I've purchased 5 of them over the years. However, I started digging into why this is cheaper than OEM or others. On review, this one is lacking many of the NSF certifications you would expect a water filter to have. This is NSF 357 certified meaning the materials used to construct the filter do not contain lead. The certification says absolutely nothing about its filtering capabilities.Important standards met by other filters are:NSF 401: Verified for reduction of the compounds atenolol, bisphenol A, carbamazepine, DEET, estrone, ibuprofen, linuron, meprobamate, metolachlor, naproxen, nonylphenol, phenytoin, TECP, TCPP, and trimethoprim.NSF 53: Verified for reduction in heavy metals (arsenic, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, mercury and selenium), inorganics (fluoride and nitrate plus nitrite) and volatile organic chemicals (chloroform surrogate as well as individual organic chemicals).NSF 42: Verified reduction in chlorine (taste and odor), chloramines, iron, manganese, hydrogen sulfide, pH neutralization and zinc reduction.Knowing there are other filters with these certifications in the same price category, I'm selecting something else for my future filtering needs.Other than that, fit and finish is fine. No leaks.

I really like the price of this filter
I really like the price of this filter. It fit my refrigerator, a kenmore elite frengh door, perfectly. Installatkon and set up required only to twist out the old and twist in the new. I filled a 2 quart pitcher of water 2 times until the water ran clear. Now, I have good tasting chilled water again. I replace this filter from the original LG made filter and clearly do not taste any difference. I didn't experience the charcoal bits floating around as others have noticed. I live in Scottsdale AZ, where the tap water can taste like my swimming pool or muddy. No off tastes with this filter. Clean, clear water. I do recommend this filter as a good value replacement from the original.I always read products reviews when I try to make decisions on my purchase so I hope my review can help you with your shopping too. Perfect replacement for LG Original at fraction of cost...
Every six months I used to grit my teeth and order yet another LG branded water filter for my French Door LG refrigerator. I was about to do that yet again when I saw this product as an alternative. I decided to give it a chance since the reviews were mostly positive. I am glad I did. It replaced the original filter (LG JA2006A) perfectly and there were no leaks. Installation was issue free as it was a match to the one coming out.I had one concern about the water coming out initially black as I began flushing it out. But a quick email to the company was returned within minutes explaining that because it is a charcoal filter, that is not uncommon. I did see at least one other reviewer mention this after I received the email back so I am no longer concerned. I just flushed it a little more than normal until all the liquid looked normal. It tastes great and I am very pleased with the excellent customer service response from the company. I'll be ordering these from now on.

Paid off well.
I have owned my keymore fridge for over 10 years and bought a new filter about once a year. I always bought the brand name filter from Kenmore but hated how I felt each time as Kenmore and Sears ripped me off repeatedly. I was just too scared a generic would ruin my fridge. I finally thought I would gamble and buy a generic brand. At this point my Kenmore fridge is such a piece of junk that if it ruined my fridge It would just be added to the list of all the problems I have had with Kenmore applicances. Well the gamble paid off! This filter works great. Water tastes good, even my picky daughter told me without asking her how much she likes the taste. It did leak a bit for a few days but that has stopped. It was very minor and I think maybe the seal just needed to set. So even though I have a horrible lemon of a Kenmore fridge, I can save a bit of money by using these filters. Hope they stay in business for a while.

Works as Factory - At Half the Price
This is 'Compatible' to the factory filter. My LG fridge is about 8 years old and I am on a private well. My water is very good but contains a significant amount of rust and is hard. It also is quite alkaline as well. My old filter began to slow the flow of water so I went to the local orange box store to purchase a replacement. The factory filter was $49.95. Nope - not this boy is gonna pay 50 bucks for a water filter. I check Amazon and purchased this knockoff. I is a perfect replacement and after running a few gallons of water through it, I can't tell the difference. The water I did run through was nasty however. It was dark with a lot of particulate in it. I assume this was displaced from my water line on the filter change.I dumped the ice in the ice maker and started over. All is well and I have about $26 extra in my wallet and a new filter. Thanks7-2017 update - I replaced this filter with an identical filter. I don't think it needed replacement but I did it anyway since I changed the water valve on the fridge.

Not Made in the USA
I have no problem with the filter, it works just fine and was a decent price. My only issue and it is MY issue is that it it not made in the USA. It was probably clear in the description but I had purchased a US made filter from Amazon in the past and I thought this was the same one. I have discovered the correct (US made) filter and I will be purchasing these exclusively in the future. I am only giving it a "3" due to the country of origin and MY inability to thoroughly read the entire description. However, works fine and is a whole lot cheaper than buying the "official" LG filter.
