Bug Zapper Mosquito Killer Indoor and Outdoor Fly Zapper Half Acre Coverage

Update December 2024: The unit suddenly stopped working (I live in a warmer climate and have mosquitoes year round). Noticeably fewer mosquitos until then. Original: I live in an area that has a good amount of mosquitos each summer, to the point where I usually need to spray outside in addition to having a zapper inside the house. That other zapper burnt out last year, so I decided to look for a different brand and found this one - I put this zapper outdoors before the mosquito season started and didn't need to bother with a spray at all this year because it was so effective! Highly recommended.

I hate mosquitoes. I can't do any work in my backyard when it's dusk or sit under the gazebo. These darn critters swarm towards me and start feeding of my sweet red nectar. Solution: Sargent B.D.Zapper. Electrocute the buggers to oblivion. This is a great bug zapper unit. Slightly on the large side but not ugly by any means. Definitely works very well, if there are no other bright lights close by. You can smell the carnage. The unit is heavy, so ensure that whatever is used to secure this unit to a beam or ceiling is correctly rated for the weight. I used a double 1in nail large picture hanger to secure this to our gazebo beam. The bottom removable tray is a great idea. Just remove and dispose of the fried insects and place it back in. Only gripe is, the unit does not have an on/off switch. Unfortunate since now I have to unplug our gazebo every time we head back inside. Overall: I salute thee Sargent B.D. ZAPPER. May your neverending battles bring me and my family peace and prosperity.

Was a little concerned when we opened the box. Like so many Black and Decker products, it looked a bit on the cheap side, very lightweight. BUT when we put it to use, we realized the light weight meant we could hang it with confidence on just about anything. We hung it on our back deck. We went from killing 4-5 flies a day in our kitchen (which opens onto the deck) to none! We can use our deck again. We keep it on day and night. The flies are almost completely gone, mosquitoes seem to be gone as well. It has even zapped some pesky bees. It has helped with the gnats, but not completely. Definitely worth the purchase and we're thinking about getting another for our pool area (we have a large yard).

Working fantastically for 3 months, then the bulb burned out. Very disappointing!!!

Bought this in Aug of this year (2022) and the bulb has already burned out (Oct 2022). It seems to work pretty good overall. It zaps all manner of flying things, even some really large bugs that shouldn't fit through the holes. The zapper sometimes "melts" the bugs, so you may get a constant static noise as the carcass is electrocuted. Cleaning is really difficult, as it's hard to get a narrow brush through the holes easily to scrape off the remains. We're going to try a replacement bulb and see how long it lasts.

We have a private camp property. We're near a cottage'y area, but our property is a bit set apart from there others, where there is not much other light nearby. So when we have a light on at night, inside or out, every bug within a couple acres is on it like white on rice! Certain times of the year this is really problematic, as we couldn't even get into our camper at night without bringing a couple dozen flying friends in with us. We purchased this bug zapper because of the good reviews, and that it is an outdoor unit. The instructions say it can withstand most outdoor conditions, and only needs to be brought in during torrential rains. The instructions also explain to set it up away from where people congregate, to draw the bugs away from that area. So we added a shepherd's hook to our electric box area, and plugged it in and hung it up there, away from our outdoor sitting area and camper doors. As soon as we plugged it in, ZAP. And the ZAPS just kept on coming! One issue we did have is after the first night, the lightbulb was complete PLASTERED with SO MANY BUGS. This is good, but also bad, in that they're supposed to fall to the ground (we removed the bottom tray). So we used the brush the light came with to clear the bulb. But we certainly didn't want to have to do that every day. After a few nights of use, the bugs started sticking less, and dropping more. Perhaps the bulb just needs a little bit of wear-and-tear for the bug corpses to fall off more easily. So we are very happy with this bug zapper, and really hope it will have good longevity in causing mass bug murder at our camp property for much time to come.

This zapper does a great job with the mosquitoes.

I bought it to use in our garden and it stopped working within 5 min after putting it on! Very disappointed as I started using it 2 months after I bought it so return window is already closed. Bleck and decker you need to contact me and sort it out please. This is not acceptable!

I set the device on the table in bedroom. After 30 minutes the device stopped working and a strong smell of burned electronics came out of it. Can’t even initiate a return cause Amazon does not show that i receive the unit yet.

Hace muy bien su trabajo..lo único incómodo es tener que desarmarlo mediante tornillos para poder limpiar todos los cadáveres. Por el resto estoy muy contento, de todos los moscos que tenia queda 1 o 2 rezagados en menos de 1 mes de uso diario, únicamente lo conecto en las noches y en zonas oscuras. Mis perros duermen felices. Es de plástico de buena calidad y mas grande de lo que esperaba. Pesa poco para el tamaño que tiene.
