Malibu 8409-1901-06 Modern Light LED LV Kit, Brown, 6-Piece

I purchase the Malibu 8409-1901-06 Modern Light LED LV Kit, Brown, 6-Piece. The brightness of the lights are great daylight. The kit was very easy to install with the directions. The Rep for Malibu is GOODSMANN....They're awful to call and ask questions. when you have them on the phone they hang up on you. I call them several times and the same thing. I hope i do not have any issues with kit if not i will need to work with Amazon.

I ordered and installed this set of four walk lights and two spots (along with six additional walk lights that I ordered through Home Depot), making a total of 12 lights. The power supply is very simple and efficient to operate. I did not use the wire that came with the kit, but instead ordered the Coleman 14/2 because the larger wiring makes connections easier. I cut off the quick connections (that other reviews complained about) from each lamp and instead used yellow electrical wire nuts (same as one would use in house wiring), stripping each lead to 1/2 inch, twisting the wires together, attaching the yellow wire nut, and then placing heat shrink tubing over the wire and wire nut, then heating with a heat gun to make a totally weatherproof connection. This may be overkill, but once I bury the wire I don't have to worry about a good connection in the future.I also had some old red bricks that have three holes in each brick, so I stuck the pointed end of each vertical support in the middle hole and buried the brick a few inches underground, which gave a good support for the entire walk light in case my dogs bumped into one in the future. Again, this might be overkill, but it is a simple solution to add stability and support to the light.I found that a spacing distance of 9 feet between each light, and a height from sidewalk to bottom of light lens of 17 inches, gave good light and visibility at night. The spots are amazingly bright and I use one spot to direct toward the front step and door, which gives good visibility in your last steps to the door.Overall, the very dark brown color looks professional and expensive, and I set the timer to leave the lights on all night because LED lights cost practically nothing to run.

This is an excellent product! Mine arrived lacking the stakes on which each of the lights need to be mounted, but a quick call to the company and they were on the way. I found the set incredibly easy to install, the key being the availability of a source of electricity; otherwise, some latent electrical knowledge is important to tie in to the home's electricity. I had an easily available plug and was able to hide the wiring as it travelled across the deck to the point where it was buried, so the job was simple. They gave off more than ample light for their purpose, and the only complaint I have is the difficulty in screwing the stakes into the appliance itself. Clearly cheap plastic causes stripping when one tries to attach the appliance to the stake itself. All the lights are fairly delicate, but very attractive and well worth the money.

This is a nice set of lights- well built, appears to be durable. Provides a nice spread of light for using such a small wattage. Though, as other reviewers have posted, the clips to connect the lights to the wire do not work with the 16 gauge wire that is included. I connected all 6 lights and none of them made the electrical connection. I went to Lowes and purchased a 14 gauge wire (about $40/100ft), reconnected all the lights and everyone of them works. Malibu should either correct the design of the clips, or include the correct wire that will work with the existing ones. The timer function works well. Mine are set to come on at dark, which they consistently do, and then go off after 8 hours. It would be nice if Amazon offered single fixtures to go with this set, as I plan on adding more lights.

Like others I was stunned at how bright these LED lights are, considering the teeny wattage that they draw. The two spotlights light up a couple of trees while the other lights provide pools of lights in the flower beds. A very nice look. As others mentioned, I had trouble getting the connectors to make a good connection to the cable that was provided. But because I had been forewarned I was prepared for that, and I ordered 100 feet of larger #14 gauge cable. That was all it took to fix the problem. Previous reviewers are right--the manufacturer should provide the larger cable in the first place, since the 75 feet of cable they provide is clearly a problem. I would knock of a star or two for that alone, except for the quality and incredible effectiveness of the lights themselves and how great they look in the yard.

I really enjoy the look and ambiance the lights create. The only caution I would have for a potential buyer, is that the quick connect clips don't necessarily make a quick electrical connection through the cable insulation, as either the metal prongs are too small, the gauge of wire is too small, or the connectors were designed for a larger cable. Plan to spend a few extra minutes squeezing, wiggling and re-aligning a few of the connectors as they wont all be good to go. Side note: I found that the portions of cable that were sitting in the sun for a while before I used the connectors made better connections (rubber was more pliable).

I Liked the malibu lights becuse of the style the look different and stylish they are bright and the auto eye comes on at dusk don' have to worry about setting lights to go on and off, Just set timer to Auto and set how long you won t to keep them on, 4hrs, etc: Thats it I used other lights four years you had to set the pins for lights to come on and off, if theirs a power faiiler you have to take remote off wall and ture dial to correct time, But with the maibue lights remote theirs nothing to worry about. when power comes back on the electric eye takes over.
