Finally a good grater... but now it's unavailable?
I finally found a cheese grater I don't hate. But now it's unavailable... why? :(It's hard to find anything to complain about with this grater. The only issue is that the handle can come loose, especially if you drop it. The handle is just glued in place. And wood glued to stainless steel is pretty sketchy. But even without the glue holding it, it stays in place pretty well. But what I really like is that it feels nice to hold while grating. And it is very solid. It's not some flimsy piece of sheet metal like pretty much every other grater I've ever used.

Best Grater Ever
Very impressive! Sturdy, does not flex on the grating surface. We ordered the medium grater and it works great on cheddar and harder cheeses as well. Lays flat in our drawer, wish we had found this one sooner.

Mine was defective.. but stunningly beautiful otherwise
Beautiful.. But not very functional (2-stars). Burrs are not acceptable on any grater, but especially a $30 grater. One of the pictures are: Kings county (fine) & Browne (coarse).. I’m talking about both below..Two kings county & one Browne grater makes three in a row with burrs..HOPEFULLY the seller will tell us when/if this problem is fixed. But for now I’m giving up on graters that look like this (because they are probably from the same factory). The PICTURE of a grater that looks clean is a Browne grater, but looks like it came from the same factory. There are burrs on it too, but not bad enough to show up in a picture. I grated a potato with the Browne, and confirmed that unfortunately cheap graters (without burrs) do a better job. The burrs make it cut poorly, then you have to push harder, which increases the risk of making your fingers bleed. The problem with burrs is while one side is sharp, the other side has irregular metal hanging off it (both sides need to be sharp to cut).I returned the first kings county (fine); The replacement was better, but still NG (defective sharpening was intermittent: about half had noticeable burrs, and both sides of the holes are raised). At first I wondered if this was a feature to grate in both directions, but then I noticed the pronounced burrs (and the same irregularities that can be seen in the pictures from the first grater). The grater is stunningly beautiful although I would rather not have the wood on it so I would have the option of using the dishwasher. At first I liked the bare SS of the kings county better, but realized many of my dishes are stone, so I’d rather have the rubber on the end (Browne) so I don’t end up with microscopic nickel and chromium from the SS in my food (but hopefully no rubber chemicals, sometimes picky people just can’t win.. maybe I’ll grate into a wooden bowl instead)..One end of the Browne is angled, which I like better.. I did want to try either this grater or Browne instead of a micro plane (because I believe the micro planes are just too darn sharp to have my fingers near them). And because I like beautiful & functional kitchen things.

Wooden handle removable for dishwashing
Don’t worry about the wooden handle in the dishwasher. It is easily removed and re-installed. My question is whether the harsh environment of the dishwasher will corrode the stainless steel. I have a stainless steel popcorn pot that is not recommended for the dishwasher by the manufacturer. I just received this product. I like the weight, its two handles and size, and that it is made in Italy. It is heavier than any grater I have had before, which should indicate better quality.

Loved it until the glue between the wood and the metal failed
This is exactly the style grater I wanted. It was a bit high priced but figured it would last a long time. The build quality seemed good until the wooden handle fell off the other day. Now I need to re glue it and I hate having to fix products I just spent good money on. Reminded me of what my first boss said when I hung drywall, "Don't be cheap with the glue!"

For parmesan and other airy cheeses. It's good. Not for hard cheeses.
I didn't like it much. When I used it the 1st time, the handle came off. Otherwise an okay grater. Light duty.

Quality grater
I was doubtful about this grater and how expensive it is, but after searching a different kind, this the only one look promising to me, and sure I" am glad I ordered it. never let me down. worth the price. And if you are the kind of person that really care more about the quality. This is the right one for you you never be disappointed.

It's grate!
I got tired of scraping my knuckles on my old one and decided to give this one a try. I like the larger size (it will straddle a small bowl or pan if you like) and it is very sharp. Gets the job done much more quickly. Due to the wood handle (which is very attractive) I hand wash it only.
