but if his other "work" is like this, than I will certainly avoid the author

This "book" is little more than a sophomore high school paper. There is nothing new or informative in this pamphlet. At less than 45 pages (sheets) the whole thing with proper formatting could be put down into less than 12 pages. Anyone who can use Wiki and Google will learn more in the 10-12 minutes it will take to read this. There is no referencing, many blank pages, some right in the middle of the so called "chapters", and a lot white space throughout. I very foolishly purchased the print edition. Save your money. If you have any background in science you will quickly see that this "Truth about nootropics" pamphlet is WORTHLESS. Heck, just jump on Redit and you will learn more about "smart drugs" in a single thread than this. I buy and read a lot of books, this is the epitome of people pumping out junk work for a quick buck. Other reviewers praise Colin Willis, but if his other "work" is like this, than I will certainly avoid the author. This book may be okay for a seventh grade child with ADD as they can read it quickly lol.

Great

Absolutely excellent. To put it briefly, I have no qualms with this book whatsoever. It's informative, clear & concise, straightforward and clearly well-researched.The author offers a neutral, impartial perspective which says everything how it really is; I mention this because the last smart drug related book I came across was biased and filled with misleading info and sales plugs, which seems to be a common trend at the moment. I will definitely be keeping in mind what I have learned from this read when/if I decide to try a nootropic.

Thorough Informative Read on Nootripics

I've looked into quite a few different drugs, but I'd never heard of Nootropics before. I had just finished Colin Willis's book on DMT when this book was recommended to me by Amazon. Curious what 'Smart Drugs' were, I bought it and read it. Nootropics are essentially a drug that's supposed to make you smarter (hence the name). It boosts memory and concentration, essentially allowing you to maintain more information and grow intelligently. Fascinating, right? I thought so too!As with most controversial drugs it's really hard to find reliable information for them online. Some websites are avidly against them and are strewn with false information regarding their negative side-effects. Others websites are trying to promote the drugs and make them out to be safer or more useful than they actually are. This book was written in a way that was neither promoting nor demeaning the drug. It was simply informing the public on the drug and I found that to be really refreshing. Because it was written in a neutral way, and had a lot of scientific facts behind it's writing, I trusted that everything in the book was well-researched and correct. The book starts by explaining in detail what nootropics are. You also have a chance to learn the history of the drug and how it came to be, as well as the science behind the drug- what makes it work the way it does. I found the scientific portion especially interesting because the science behind so many drugs is often never discussed. People are more worried about their effects. Don't worry- this book discusses the effects too. Both the positives and negatives of using Smart Drugs, and what's likely to happen when you do use them.By the time I finished this book I was aware of the many different forms of Smart Drugs on the market, the legalities of purchasing and using them, and the costs of them. This book was filled with so much critical information. I'm extremely curious when it comes to many different drugs and Colin Willis's work never fails to answer all of my questions and give me the incentives or discouragement I need from delving into my own mind-enhancing experiences.

Good introduction and basic understanding.

Good introduction to the subject of smart drugs. Very clear organization of the classes of drugs and easy to follow. Not a lot of deep examples of the mechanism of action.

One Star

No real information. Very superficial.

Same as looking up Google!

No real evidence for what is written in this tiny book. Very concise and easy to read (font size for kids) however the content can't be trusted. Better doing your own research and looking through medical journals or articles on reputable websites. There isn't even an author name on the book and no references! Don't quote this book if you're reading it. Also, most of the brain enhancing products listed in this book are brands from the US and prices are listed in USD only. Accessibility to other countries cannot be found. Read with caution please!

Dilettantism

This is written by an amateur. The way he writes shows that he does not know anything about neuroscience. He makes up information without checking. There is no bibliography and does not rely on evidence based research. No critical thinking is present. Being a pseudoscience book, I do not recommend to anybody. Do not waste your money!!!
