can the nub be used as a bottle opener?

It works great as a bottle opener, the trick is to weap your hand around the back of the blade and adjust the angle. Fun fact, one of the first precursors to the whole "wave" concept was a blade by Kershaw with a bottle opener on the back. Craig Douglas recognized the potential and modified it for reverse edge work, calling it the southern comfort and waving the blade years before Emerson patented a similar concept.

Made in seki japan which is where most mid to high price spyderco blades are made. I have seki made spyderco knives from the first time spyderco started selling their knives in the early 1980's

Can you switch the side the clip is on?

Yep. Get some blue loctite and loctite the screws once you switch the clip to the other side in order to ensure the clip doesn't fall off.
