A very useful appliance
We had this pot for about a month and are very satisfied with it. It does very well what you can't do with conventional cookware: preparation of foods and pressure cooking in the same pot. This is particularly useful when you need to quickly fry base ingredients such as onions and/or sear meat before you start the pressure cooking process so that you can start extracting those flavours that will add character and value to the finished product.I bought the 8-litre version because of the volume. I read some complaints about food burn alerts and other comments around this issue and I will come to that shortly, however the bottom line is that every size has a specific use in mind and one should bear in mind that it won't be optimal to fit a chicken in excess of 2kg in a small pot and that it is inefficient and impractical to cook a small amount of rice in a too large pot. My advice on size is to just check the capacity of the pots you normally use to prepare your food and buy the size that best approximates your requirements. I had in mind large stews, 2 kg and above chickens and so forth, hence my choice fell on the 8-litre which turned out to be just right.Back to cooking with it, armed with good silicone tools you will be able to prepare your food before pressure-cooking it right inside the steel pot and, by carefully controlling the Sauté function, you will be able to do so without your food sticking to the pot. Done that, pressure cooking offers the advantages that everyone talk about, including a reduced total cooking time. Once you set the timer, the pot will reach the desired pressure and then start counting down.On my first attempt I managed to cook a stew in 35 minutes and when I finally opened the pot I was able to pull apart the meat with no effort with just the tip of a fork - just as I wanted it for this recipe. I shall add that I got the food burn message, which was corrected by momentarily cancelling the process and starting it later. When I opened the pot, there was some burnt food at the bottom but not enough to spoil the taste of the food. The alert was timely and accurate; thanks to that I avoided burning the food inside.Concerned about why this had happened I found that rather than a defect or an insufficient amount of liquid, it was a preparation error. Pressure cooking prevents the user from steering the food inside the pot, so some care has to be taken to ensure that the liquids at the bottom of the pot are not too dense, for example having water at the bottom containing any form of blended vegetables including tomatoes. This will prevent the high temperature developing at the base to propagate rapidly through the liquid, with the result of (in this case) vegetable/solids burn at the bottom in combination with a still a too low average temperature for evaporation. To resolve this issue (or mitigate this risk) it is important to ensure that the water at the bottom remains as liquid as possible and that any thick sauces and ingredients are added at the top. The circulation of water vapour inside the pot will then ensure a sufficient and adequate combination of the ingredient during the cooking. The comment about the need of having the food to cook immersed in the water is in my opinion baseless. The water in a pressure cooker will transition from liquid to water vapour at a temperature well in excess of 100C multiple time during the cooking process, leading to the same effect of immersion cooking at atmospheric pressure (as in the conventional cooking process). The pot also has a slow cooking function, but after the few times we used it and successfully prepared meat stews to a satisfactory grade of tenderness and taste, I wonder if I will ever use the slow cooking functionality.Mechanically, this pot is simple. The lid is purely mechanical, with mechanical pressure valves, filters, seals and gaskets that are easy to remove for cleaning and reinstall later. One feature that I really like as a result of this manufacturing method is that you can cook a pot of cabbage without having the smell of it around the house for hours. The very sensitive pressure valves close just as the pressure starts to build up and if the pot is not rapidly vented at the end of the pressure cooking process, the internal pressure will be down to zero and the food cooler, avoiding the rapid release of steam and food smell in the kitchen and beyond. The only one thing I didn't like is the smell of manufacturing oils typical of some new appliances (the same you feel in some metal kettles when they are new). There are various methods of removing this. The conclusion of this review is that the Instant Pot is a very useful and practical piece of kitchenware. We are happy with it and it is giving us satisfaction.

Way better than expected!
Great material quality, was expecting that will be medium level for this price, but I got wrong.Pressure cooker option works perfect, especially for lean beef and chicken breast. They are not dry!!!Easy to clean and very easy cooking process. Saves a lot of time on meal preps routine. We are doing meal preps once per week.5.4L capacity good enough to cook for 2-4 family members. If you do not have air fryer I would recommend for model above with air fryer function.Main options that we are using: pressure cooker and sous vide.Sous vide separately costs about 80-100 pounds and you need to have a space for container. Basically cooking seafood and it has a great taste. 11 minutes and perfect salmon fillets are cookedPressure cooker costs about 50-60 pounds. We are using it to cook lean beaf and chicken breast. To cook chicken breast takes about 20 minutes. For lean beef 1 hour, but after that you are getting pulled beef which breakings apart once you are trying to take it out from cooker. Never dry and very smooth! Here is all in one. No need to waste space in kitchen.Unfortunately did not manage to get a properly cooked rice. Sometimes rice getting burn underneath, sometimes overcooked. I need to play around with rise and water ratio.I paid 102 GBP on sale for this and extremely happy. 140 GBP it's good price as well if compare to market, but if 140-150 GBP is over your budget, wait for discounts or if you are still deciding to get instant pod or another brand to save 20-30 GBP - definitely go for instant pod.

Impossibile farne a meno!

Goed product! Een paar maanden in gebruik. Stoofpotjes in half uur ipv 2 uur. Sauté functie is zeer krachtig.
