GUITAR is a HOSS
This Recording King RD-318 is unbelievable right out of the box. Solid Adirondack Top is beautiful on this one and the Solid Mahogany Back and Sides look nice as well. For the money, it would be hard to find a better guitar. It is no slouch in the tone department, deep and resonant. Rings like a bell, quality construction and detail is excellent..... I have both Martin and Gibson Guitars that cost a whole lot more than this Recording King RD318 but again, for the money cost, this guitar is worthy of a place in your stable..... They seem to be doing something right in their China Plant. Nice Wood, Good Construction, Excellent Tone, Well Pleased with this HOSS.....

Bad finish coating
This guitar has a great booming sound for the price. The problem (and reason I returned it) is that the finish coating is so ridiculously thick. There were cloudy spots in various places on the guitar which also resulted in small hairline cracks where the frets were installed. This is not something I would accept from a brand new guitar right out of the box.

To for the RD318 for sure.
I got this model about 6 1\2 months ago and have played it 2-3 times a week since then, in between playing my D41 and electrics. It has become one of my favorites in that time. Before we were re-locked down, I was able to p!ay it with a guy who had a D35 across from me. The RK more than held its own with the Martin for tone and projection. It was very impressive. The finish on mine is very nicely done. Awesome grain on the Adi top and the mahog looks very nice, not as reddish as mahog on Martin or Tak that I have. I know the fit and finish may not be as perfect as other big name brands, but for the 2K in $$ diff, I have no problem with it. Would def replace it lost or stolen.
