This is a great supplement to take if you have pain caused by inflammation. I have terrible chronic joint and back pain and this has helped as an adjunct to my other treatments.You really don't want to take the turmeric with black pepper/bioperine if you take prescription medications without specifically clearing it with a doctor, so this and other brands that DON'T contain black pepper or bioperine are a safer choice if you take prescription medication. The black pepper/ bioperine (they are the same thing) changes the way medications are metabolized and can lead to an increased level of the medication in your blood plasma, so a normal dose can suddenly become an overdose. I take propranolol, a heart medication to slow down a too rapid heart rate, and that is one of the medications that can be effected and one of the most commonly prescribed types of medications since it's in a class of medication which also treats high blood pressure. So if you take any prescription medications it's probably safer to skip the added black pepper and just do the turmeric. It doesn't work miracles and isn't a magic cure, but it's a good thing to add to a treatment regime if you're fighting pain and/or inflammation, it's got some good science supporting it's efficacy, and has been used for hundreds of years.*This is not intended as a substitute for medical advice. I bought this for my 64 years mom because i happened to read about it. She was suffering from multiple causes of pains due to inflamed disc, fybromialgia, arthritis in arms and very painful knee pain. Her doctor put her on anti depressant medication to calm the nerves pain in her whole body. She was depressed and miserable and i live far from her and did not know what to do. I bought her this turmeric, and the Milk Thistle because she has a fatty liver too. It is like a miracle happened, she feels so much better, and we keep wondering which really helped and i think this along with Milk Thistle 1000mg are miracle supplements.I later read also that the Turmeric with black pepper extract combination is better as the black pepper (bioperine) allows the body to absorb the Turmeric better. she bought that from Costco but has not tried it yet. I like Puritan products and fortunately you get better and more accurate product service from Amazon than you do if you order direct from Puritan. Ant the price is comparable or sometimes less than Puritan. Two things I don't like about ordering from Puritan, bait and switch and the buy 1 get 1 or 2 free. I have found buying one from Amazon is cheaper than buying it from Puritan. Really like the product happy I can buy from Amazon.

No bioperine so this product will not absorb well. Learned this after purchase so switched to a better brand.

I am gluten sensitive and can tell when I've been exposed to gluten by how stiff my fingers are in the morning when I wake up (more gluten exposure= fingers that get stuck in bent positions...). When I take this turmeric I wake up with really bad stiffness especially when compared to the Spring Valley Turmeric I get from Walmart. These don't taste like Turmeric either which makes me wonder about the strength of the product or whether the capsule is too thick to release the herb in my system like the other pill. Will be going back to my other brand.

Well Its been about a month of continued use. Just found out that I been training with a tear in my meniscus for about 8 months. But since I've been taking it I noticed that the pain hasn't been as much. And plus I'm allergic to all anti inflammatory and ibuprofen and asprin. So this has been better than nothing. I'll continue for another month to see if it continues.

Be careful with this brand of Turmeric. For the last 2.5 months of taking 1 800mg 2 -3 Xs weekly I've had a severe allergic reaction. I had a friend try it as well & she had a bad reaction after 1st time. I've dealt with extreme anxiety (never had & I've been to doc since to get on anxiety meds), dry mouth/ eyes, felt skin tingling, hallucinations...I felt horrible. Please take these off the market.

Turmeric has many health benefits to it and this pill form is easy to take on a daily basis. I no longer need to take aspirin, Tylenol or Advil for pain as the Turmeric aids in pain relief especially for stiff and sore joints
