It works and doesn't feel as though it will break under normal usage. thick tip that may provide poor bite indication, eye spacing isn't ideal for multiplier use. I used this set up with a fixed spool for a junior on a boat trip in the Bristol channel.

Updated comment:The rod broken during first time using on boat, not really anything heavy, just 2 regular size mackerels, rod broken when I was trying to hook the mackerels from water to deck. And the broken spot is between reel seat and thick end which suppose to be the toughest part of the rod, first time saw a rod broken from here. I have another rod manufactured by Shakespeare, not top level quality but it's been working well. Hope this is an isolated case.Lucky thing is that the seller is very nice and helpful, after sending some evidences of the broken rod, the seller offered to send me another rod, happy to know the same model is out of stock so the seller will send me another brand.
