so a good 8 months
I bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas 2015. I am just now rating it as I wanted a full review. He loves it. The battery lasted up until August, so a good 8 months. Good sturdy trimmer. He likes the battery trimmer versus the chargeable ones because when it dies, you just change the batteries. His chargeable ones would die, and he would have to keep it plugged it. Eventually it would stop holding a charge completely. The cord was never long enough. He would recommend this product.

Works well, good for travel too.
Runs on AA batteries. I just assumed it would be rechargeable. But that's ok. Makes it better for travel.Base has a spot for the razor but not the trimmer. That doesn't make much sense to me.Nice assortment of guards for different trim lengths.

5-position guide is hard to use and the instructions for it are wrong (must be instructions for a completely different product)
Seems to work fine (I've only used it once), but the "5-position guide" was an exercise in frustration because that part of the instruction booklet is clearly for a different product. The instructions reference a retaining clip on the 5-position guide (which it does not have; the other 3 guides do, though) and a thumb adjustment for length. The instructions must be written for one of their trimmers that has a little lever on the side that can be used to adjust the length. The way _this_ five-position guide actually works is simply how far towards the clipping blades you push it. This wouldn't have been a big source of frustration, except that it was far from obvious how much stroke the guide actually has, and of course the instructions were anti-helpful. At first I thought the "five positions" were all very long and kind of indicated by some notches in the plastic. And I mean very long - like over half an inch (which leaves a pretty huge gap between it and the largest of the three dedicated guides, which is 3/16"). But then the second time I tried the guard, it went on a little deeper (giving a slightly shorter cut), and I thought that was the shortest it would go, still too long.Next day I fiddled with it again, and found it went on a little deeper. At that point I realized that plastic guide just needed a little loosening up, and it would press all the down to practically leaving the blade bare -- and that was truly its shortest setting (probably 1/16"). Once I had it all the way on, I realized that as I then pulled it off (lengthened it), I could feel some clicking into place along the way, which I assume are the five positions. So still annoying that there's no visual indicator of which of the 5 settings you're at, nor is there any description anywhere of what the lengths are of the five different settings. If memory serves, the box (but not the instructions) said the 5-position guide can go from 1/16" to 1/2", so I assume that each of the 5 positions is about 1/8" longer than the last. And I think that if I ever remove the guide, then to find the position I want I'll have to press it all the way down and then back it off and count the clicks as I go.That's all not terrible, but could be much better. So three stars feels about right.

Worth it if buying for occasional use, or when roughing it/camping.
when it showed up and I realized it was cordless, but needed AA batteries I thought I'd just bought the most gutless, pointless device ever but came away pleasantly surprised after I tried it. The cutter is very sharp, and the motor is actually surprisingly powerful for a device that runs off old school AA alkaline batteries. The fact that I have to buy batteries is the only downside, but a real one, which makes this a far more expensive device when used regularly, as opposed to buying a more high end cordless rechargeable shaver.

Hometown heroes!
I was born and raised in Sterling, IL where WAHL got its start. I say this because whenever I need anything for hair clipping, I immediately buy them out of loyalty to my hometown. However, I also know I am getting an awesome, American-made item. I love this and it was extremely affordable.

Wahl Wireless Men's Beard Trimmer and Ear/Nose Trimmer
I bought this to replace an older Wahl battery powered trimmer.I had lost all the accessories and it was cheaper to buy a new one. This one doesn't cut as well. I have to go over my beard and mustache several times to get a straight line. The trimming spacers have a slotted fence as opposed to the old open design. These get clogged with hair and have to be constantly cleared. This is a very disappointing purchase.
