Q: How long is the shelf life for these containers before they start breaking down before I use them?

I've only had them for 2 months, but I had bowls of the same material for 11/2 years with no breakdown

Q: Will this keep warm and cold like foam containers?can it contain as much food as the average main course plate?

These are wonderful containers. I purchased them for my farmers market booth. The 6x6 holds 1-2 cinnamon rolls easily and the larger container will easily hold a main course. I love that they aren't made of foam but keep the food either warm or hot. These are the only containers I will buy.

Q: do these get soggy with hot foods? does the sauce seep into the packaging?

I'll answer the best that I can. First, I use these every day to send out hot foods to family. They seem to be quite sturdy and retain sauces quite well I would think that if you put something hot/sauce in them and left them for some time in the refrigerator, or on the counter, that they would, given their composition, absorb some of the liquid. I , personally, am entirely satisfied with them.

Q: Do these close all the way - we have a small catering business and they need to close completely?

I use these on my food truck and they close fine. Im not sure what you mean by “completely “.
