What a piece of kit - It is brilliant
So you want an external hard drive. You want a big capacity. I got the 4TB but these go to 8TB!and ... the most important thing is that you want it to run pretty much as well as an internal SSD.This costs a lot more than other drives around but it is well worth the money if you have the need for performance and cannot squeeze more storage inside your laptop or need it to be portable. We have been running this for two weeks now and have been testing it against other solutions. Using it on Dell XPSs in the main and the performance is nothing short of blistering. In the real world tests the speed difference between this and the internal SSD is not discernible. The test numbers show that it works as fast as the Thunderbolt bus will allow it.It outperforms a Samsung EVO SSD 1TB (in SATA format) by a massive factor and is running fairly close to 80-90% of the speed when compared to teh standard M.2 PCI SSD drive in a new Dell XPS.It is £700 and that is a lot - but it is worth that versus the comptetition. It also looks great, feels like a nice peice of kit and comes in a nice tin box.It would have been nice to get a custom travel hard case with the drive but that is a small thing to ask.

It just works.
I spent weeks trying to find an nVME 2TB ultra fast memory and matching it with a Thunderbolt 3 enclosure that worked properly on my Mackbook Pro 13" M1. In desperation I bought this Sabrent Rocket XTRM 2TB Thunderbolt 3 External drive. It arrived yesterday and I spent no time plugging it in and putting it through is paces. Initially I got 2236MBs WRITE and 2458 READ. Not as fast as I was trying to achieve (3000 R/W) but fast enough for now. The drive is very small and does get very warm. Like all ultrafast ram it throttles back when it gets too warm. This is not a problem when moving 6 - 10 GB at a time. 10.2mm x 4.5mm x 1.5mm - I doubt you get something smaller.Next is to get a TB3 Hub and connect the drive to my 2016 iMac, followed by another 2TB drive, then I'll be set up for video (Davinci Resolve) and photo (Lightroom/Photoshop) processing both at home and out and about (when Covid restrictions are removed).Excellent buy with 3 year warranty on Registration.

Blisteringly fast Thunderbolt 3 Drive
I bought this 2TB Thunderbolt 3 SSD drive from Sabrent to contain the sample libraries for my Studio. To avoid bottlenecks, I wanted a hard drive that was at least as fast as the internal NVMe SSD drive on the Macbook Pro 2017.More to the point, I didn't want to pay the £650+ being charged by better known manufacturers for a hard drive, but nor did I want a drive that had the Thunderbolt 3 cable hardwired in, like with certain other SSDs at a similar price to this one. At the same time, I wanted a reliable, well regarded brand of NVMe M2 SSD.I had thought such a product didn't exist at my price range (£450 or less) until I came by this one.It exceeds the speed of the 1TB built in NVMe SSD on the Macbook, getting read write speeds of around 2300mbs/2200mbsWhilst it is true that the unit does get hot, it is not a problem. The heat has to go somewhere, and this SSD dissipates it through the sleek chamfer edged metal casing with no apparent loss of speed. If you need a decent brand high performance external Thunderbolt 3 SSD NVme drive with detachable Thunderbolt cable at a fair price, then I can recommend this one.

Space Saviour
I thought I could get by with the on-board (non-replaceable) 256GB ssd in my Mac Mini. I was wrong. This is a fabulous solution. I transferred my entire system across to the Sabrent ROCKET XTRM and immediately booted from it with no problem, no lag... in fact, no downside at all. Just loads of glorious space. It’s silent, barely visible and runs cooler than theMac Mini it’s plugged into. I now have the computer that I should have bought in the first place.

Great External SSD
This is great external SSD. At first I was very concerned about the temps when I was installing my sample packs on them. But after the initial copying over and installation; it’s not got as hot. Even so it has cooling pads inside it - so it is designed to run fine at high temps. I’ve not experienced any thermal throttle and would highly recommend this. It’s lightening fast and reliable - haven’t had any disconnects or anything. For me, it was worth the money and in the future - I’ll be buying another.
