HDP JW Ruffians Chicken Assorted Colors

I bought this toy for my dogs. I will say it was good for about a week. One of the girls chewed the head off, I thought I threw away all the parts she destroyed. Well I was wrong. Birdie swallowed the bottom half of the head. By the time I realized anything wrong I had to rush her to the Vet who in turn rushed me the Vet Specialist. Needless to say I am so glad I have a savings account and luckily have doggie insurance. She had to go into surgery to remove it from her intestines. So unless you would like to go through the emotional roller coaster, spending thousands of dollars, 3 nights in a doggie hospital, and keeping one dog from playing with the other for 3 weeks DO NOT BUY THIS TOY.

After researching the best toys for my nine month old rescue, I stumbled on a site that swore by this toy. It boasted the strength for heavy chewers such as a pit bull. I have a 12lb Jack Russell Chihuahua mix and within 15 mins she had managed to remove the circular part that is the squeak. It's a hard plastic triangle that had I not been keeping a keen eye on her, she could have swallowed or choked. When I have time, I plan to update this review with a picture.

My dog has always loved JW toys. He always chooses them over any of his other many toys. I had doubts on how durable it was but once again pleasantly surprised! This chicken is probably in his top 3 favorites. He did managae to rip a tiny tiny peice of yellow off, but I think that was just from how I ripped the tag off. I will update if i see any more damage but out of the 7 JW pet toys he has (2 of them he's had for 3-4 years of HEAVY play) hes never been able to destroy any of them like he has with other soft rubber toys

When I originally purchased this product I thought I was receiving two squeaker toys- a red and a yellow one. I only got one. For the price I'm not sure why I expected two, but just to clarify to everyone purchasing the pictures shows the variety in colors NOT what you receive. You'll only receive one toy. Now that I clarified that, let's talk about why I rated this little doo-hickey 5 stars!Meet Rascal- my 70 pound hyper big black dog that can out squeak any squeaker in about an hour. He can tear through any toy in a few minutes. He's torn apart plywood dog houses in a week or two. He's torn apart our couch cushions in an afternoon (oh trust me- we were so happy about that). Needless to say this pup with wolf-sized jaws can destroy anything. Or so we thought- until we bought this small, yet indestructible toy.This goofy little toy is a rubber chicken- sort of. It's a round rubber ball with a chicken head. Mine was yellow- and came exactly as pictured. It's about the size of a softball, and about as durable as a softball as well. The squeaker in mine did not work, and never has worked. Sometimes if you squeeze it really hard you will get a very low, muffled, half-witted squeak out of it. 99% of the time it's silent. Which actually is kind of nice, considering it's become Rascal's favorite toy- so I'm sort of thankful it doesn't squeak constantly around the house.Rascal got this toy for Christmas (about a week and a half ago) and hasn't put it down since. He takes it with him when he plays outside. He brings it in. He plays fetch with it, sleeps with it, eats with it, and gets pretty dang mad if one of the other dogs comes within a foot of it. In other words- he loves it. He loves this toy. And I love the fact that it is showing NO signs of wear, even after a week and a half of CONSTANT chewing. Amazing! This cheap little knick-knack (that I was sure would be destroyed in an hour) has held up longer than our MUCH more expensive dog toys! It floats- so it can be thrown into water. It's been taken outside in our COLD Alaskan winters and hasn't had the rubber crack or get hard and breakable in the snow. The smoothe surface is easy to keep clean and can easily be wiped down with a wet cloth regularly.Just- wow. I am IMPRESSED with this little chicken. I don't usually write this excitedly about cheap little purchases, but I'm super happy with this one. Highly recommend to all big dog owners out there!

These are one of my German Shepherd’s favorite toys! They last a long time and then, it’s usually the squeaker that’s fails...but he likes to squeak the toy a lot! Even after the squeaker stops, the chickens are still a favorite toy. I still have the very first one I purchased and he still plays with it. I just purchased a coupe for him and my friend’s Golden Retriever for Christmas.

For whatever reason, this is my dog's favorite toy. He chewed up the last one (found in a retail store) within about a year or so, and luckily Amazon had it, so I just rebought it for him. Still loves it. But I'm going to be more careful about stopping him from chewing on it.For me, it's a great toy to play with him since you can grab the little chicken head that's hanging out of the dog's mouth for an easy grip if he wants to play tug/hard to get. Like that it squeaks too.

My pit mix loves this toy!! His sister on the other hand could care less as she isn't really into Chicky like toys like he is. We received it in red and he was immediately drawn to it! It squeaks and bounces around while he is playing with it. Took him two weeks to get the Chicky's face off which lasted a lot longer than I expected. Once he got the face off I can see how this toy will deteriorate pretty fast. The rubber is really soft and almost airy. We have purchased an additional one from amazon just because he loves it so much. But we will probably have to watch him carefully when he plays with it to make sure he doesn't break this one open too. They are not cheap toys that's for sure!

Excellent to add into a pet gift basket! It smells good, has an appealing squeak that dogs love, & is durable! Though not ideal for an aggressive chewer, still perfect & well liked for those that are not aggressive chewers!

I saw the Westie owner's review of one star saying it didn't last 45 minutes, that the comb was shredded. This is not a chew toy. One word...supervision!I have a 33kg Weimaraner and 26kg Lab and they LOVE this toy. It is their favourite so it has been well tested. It has lasted even through tugging, which, other toys, even some Kongs, cannot withstand. The squeaker is ***still*** working. It does make many different sounds, as well as a popping type feel when squeezed, which heightens the dogs' interest. I am definitely buying again and will be trying some of the older similarly styled toys from this range. I spend a lot of money on toys for my dogs and I am so pleased I have found a squeaky toy that can stand up to two large dogs for a reasonable period of time. Again, the key word here is supervision. This toy is not indestructible but it is very robust.

I bout this as the Cuz toys had lasted so long. I went for a design with not many 'extra' bits on as my Tibetan Terrier tends to chew them off - I had to cut off the feet of the Cuz toys. Unfortunately she'd taken off the beak and the 'wattle' before I could take the toy off her. The body is still more or less intact but now I am concerned she'll chew off the head or the drumsticks, so I daren't give it back to her. She's a relatively small dog but to be fair, she does like to chew and rip up toys, hence 3 stars..

It has lasted well, but mainly because the dog clearly doesn't like the taste of this rubber so has left it alone. On the very rare occasion she has spent time chewing (on the beak - the only bit she seems interested in) I've noticed that some red dye seems to have leached into her spit. So not for white carpets.

This is my black labradors favourite toy. It’s brilliant for throwing on walks & in to the lake & I think the vanilla scent seems to make it easier for the dog to find. Thick durable rubber.

2 yr cavapoo loves this toy.. did have to cut off a few parts as she had nearly chewed them off!
