We love this product for our persimmon tree
We love this product for our persimmon tree! We can finally reach and twist off the fruit. Before we had tried using a ladder (dangerous! do not try it!), and a product that had a bag to catch a fruit that some metal "teeth" around the top of the bag. The problem with that one was that the teeth were not strong enough to pull the fruit free without getting bent or just releasing itself. The Twister allows us to grab the persimmon and rotate it around until it is disconnected. Then we lower the entrapped fruit and remove it from the jaws. This is a truly innovative product and we give it our highest endorsement! I just wish we had found it several years ago.

Very useful picker but not as durable.
I bought a twister picker years ago and have been very happy with it. So I bought a newer version with the pole attached for use in our community garden orchard. The new one comes with pads that make it easier to pick smaller fruit but the pads fall off very easily and sometimes get stuck in the tree. The round ends are now made of plastic instead of metal. One of the loops has already cracked, so I don't think it will be as durable as my old one. Still one of the best fruit pickers I have ever used.

Nice Fruit Picker; Perfect For My Purpose
Got this fruit picker after shopping for the traditional claw basket type. I have Guava, Jujube, Wax Apple and Lemon trees, but my primary purpose was for the jujube and wax apples. Originally I shopped for the traditional basket style picker but I liked he idea of being able to pick individual fruit from the tree since my jujube And wax Apple don’t all ripen at the same pace. I was also worried the metal wires of traditional pickers would damage the more delicate wax apples (jambu). By the way if you’ve never had Wax apples before, they are great. Sweet, juicy, slightly floral, sweet and delicious. The first picker I received was completely cracked in half, but I returned and ordered another. The second picker arrived perfect and works great. I’ve been using for several weeks now and it works perfectly for my purpose. At first I was a little skeptical about the litttle rubber pads they supply but they work great with he jujube. Average size of a jujube is about 1-1.5 inch in diameter and they have about the same hardness of an Apple. Some of the jujube are tiny and I’m still able to pick them easily. I’ve also used quite successfully on my wax Apple. At first it was a bit of a pain to pick the fruit individually but after you get the hang of it you can actually go quite fast.Highly recommend this product.

Can't wait for next season!
We only have one nice citrus tree, half lemon - half orange, so we didn't think we needed something other than the usual basket-style picker. Boy was that wrong! After wrestling that basket through some tight areas and not being able to get to quite a few of the biggest oranges, decided to try this from all the great reviews. The difference was immediate! The grabber fits through tight areas then opens around the fruit to give a twist and pull out. It is so easy, I'd leave it out on my way to the tree and just pick a few at a time as needed. The pole is sturdy and extends high enough to reach the top of our fairly large tree, and I removed the rubbery covers to get a better hold of the fruit. Can't wait for the next season when we won't dread picking or having to leave any fruit because we couldn't get to it. Also great to remove any dead fruit to free up space for more blossoms!!

Works very well for figs!
Our Mission Fig tree is at least 20ft tall, very full, and quite laden with figs a couple times a year. Wasn't sure from other reviews if this picker would work for figs, which are of course much softer (when ripe) than oranges, lemons, walnuts, etc. Also I feared it would be hard to manipulate the extended picker to actual grasp a fig and that if and when I did, it would squish the fig. Finally, I thought it would be a slow job to pick very many figs, if one has to extend the picker up into the tree, find the fig, maneuver the end to grasp it, then pull it down and drop it into a basket or bucket, then back up, etc. Tedious, I thought, for more than a few figs.Well, wrong on all counts! First, we work as a team, my wife and I: One of us on the picker, the other helping spot high-up figs, and then the spotter also receives the fig in a basket after each successful pick. \With just a bit of practice it turns out to be pretty easy to get to the fig (though large leaves in the way can be annoying) and to let the handle go to grasp the fig. We MUST use the little rubber sleeves that fit over the picker ends. Then, once fig is grasped, a slight pull or a twist removes the fig and then it's not very hard to lower the picker to my waiting wife holding the basket, release it, and back up. We can pick a couple dozen in 20 min or so. And to be honest, it's kinda fun!So strong 5-star recommendation for this picker. It's very cleverly designed so that you slide the bungee-tensioned grip upward to open the two 'hands', and then release the grip to grasp and hold the fig. Then you have both hands free to hold the pole for the gentle twist and to retrieve the fig into a waiting basket. One tip: We DO have to use the two provided rubber sleeves that fit over the metal ends of the picker, as even the largest figs would fall through the opening of the 'hands'. But twice we've temporarily lost one of the sleeves as we're finding the fig or lowering the picker. Luckily, we've found it both times, in the plants below the fig tree. So now I have used a hot glue gun to firmly fix the sleeves onto the picker end grippers, and I think they will stay put. Still wouldn't hurt to buy a couple extra sleeves, if you're going to use them.NOTE Added about 3 weeks later (Oct 28, 2018): We're nearing the end of our fig season and the picker has been a real godsend ever since it arrived! All points above still apply and we are very happy with it, eagerly awaiting next season!

SQUIRRELS HATE IT
Purchased this as a gift for friends who love the fresh oranges that grow in the yard. After a lot of research decided on the Twister. It is very easy to use. So far it's been used for oranges, avocados and tangelos. Now we can get to them before the squirrels. This is a great invention.
