Exceptional utility
I do not leave the house without this thing, it is the best utility pen/pencil I've ever had and I am very picky about my writing utensils. The ballpoint writes better than any that I've owned and the whole body of the pen feels solid and high quality. It can be a little unwieldy in a hurry as you can accidentally push out the wrong instrument, but that is easy enough to remedy.Strongly recommend it if you are looking for a high utility, high quality writing tool.

Multipen comparison: Ohto, Skilcraft, Cross
For some years I've been using the Cross Tech 3 Multi-function pen. When I lost it recently I ordered some options for comparison. All three have 0.7mm black and red ink, and 0.5mm pencil. All three use the same size pen inserts, however their pencil tips are not interchangeable. All three have some color shown on the tips, to indicate the color of ink, and all three have a pencil eraser enclosed inside the finial.Cross Tech3+ $3513.7cm long.Smooth in the hand, with rounded clip. Stylus finial.Rotate upper barrel clockwise to change between blue/red/pencil tips. Rotating upper barrel counter-clockwise to retract current tip, but alternate tip selection can only be done by rotating clockwise. I experienced a pencil tip jamb which I was finally able to unclog using the tiny wire stripped from a small twisty-tie.Skilcraft B3 Aviator $1913.3cm long. Matte black finish. Sturdy clip. Stylus finial.Rotate upper barrel either direction to select tips.No positive stop when rotating barrel to retract tips, which can leave a tip partially exposed.Ohto 2+1 (MF-20K3A) $1714.4cm long. Nice rounded finger grip. Ceramic roller-ball and needle-point tip gives a feeling of precision when writing. Top half of barrel unscrews to replace tips/lead.Tip selection is done by which indicator dot (Red/White/0.5) is face-up when finial button is pushed in. This allows selecting a particular tip without having to look at it, as the orientation of the clip determines which tip will be selected. Retracting the current tip is accomplished by pressing button at top of clip. Finial has pencil eraser, but no stylus.Nicest pen writing experience is the Ohto, likely because of the ceramic ball point. Most unobtrusive in the pocket is the Cross, because of the rounded clip. Best deal seems to be Skilcraft which includes the stylus finial and eraser, at 54% of the cost of the Cross, however lack of a positive stop when withdrawing the tip is aggravating.

Thin Lines and Functionally Comfortable Writing Grip
I've never had an OHTO, been using multi-pens for a couple of decades. As a field manager with an engineering mind, I write a notes all day, and drawings, and mark up plans. Rortring 600, Lamy's, and others have been in my retinue.I've only written with the OHTO briefly. It has nice weight, with amazing thin lines for small print but can be made to make bold easily. The multi-function mechanism is simple and straight forward. It will take me six months to see how it will last. I'm confident at this point that it will last a few years.

WANTED to Like this Pen, but it Fell Apart
I bought this for daily use in my job (Hydroelectric Operator). It didn’t take long for the pencil to develop problems. My repair efforts were not successful. For some months I used it as a two color pen. I had to order refills, but I did like the way it feels in the hand. Since I retired, I probably used it less, but used both colors. I didn’t mind that the black finish was wearing off. Red started quitting on me again. Most recently I reached for the pen to make a mark on a piece of softwood in my shop, when the pocket clip and latch mechanism popped off and vanished. Time from purchase to tossing this pen into the trash: just under 13 months. This Ohto might survive occasional careful use in an office, but it is not up to real world continual use. Tactical pens are durable, but not good pens. My search for a truly durable and comfortable pen continues.

best multi pen/pencil, by far
Exceptional!! I've purchased several multi-pen/pencils from all price ranges within the past year and this one is, by far, my favorite! It doesn't skip a beat when switching mediums. Also, the quality is the best I've seen. It's all metal and has a lot of weight to it. Will purchase another immediately and the refills for this one are easy to find, unlike a couple of the others I've purchased. Ty

Amazing instrument
This is the coolest pen and worth the money. It is a pencil, black ink and red ink. It isnt large and fits nice like a regular pen in your hand. The weight and the curved finger rest is perfect. I loved it so much I bought one for my desk and one to carry
