Until February 2018, Nick Corbin was the singer and main songwriter of New Street Adventure, who released two albums: 'No Hard Feelings' in 2014 and 'Stubborn Sons' in 2017. Corbin returns with his debut solo album, produced by Gavin Monaghan (Editors, Paolo Nutini, OCS, The Twang, Robert Plant) at Magic Garden Studio in Wolverhampton. Despite the soulful roots in Nick's music, his voice remains distinctive and unmistakeable. Q's Paul Moody referred to him as 'a mod Mike Skinner', whilst comparisons to Paul Weller and, more recently, Tom Misch have frequently been made.

Heart felt songs of sense and sensibility.
Nick Corbin's gift for melody and pop hooks was amply demonstrated by two stellar albums as front-man for New Street Adventure, one of the finest British- London bands of the last decade and Corbin's soul and soft rock sensibilities are to the fore on this his first full debut solo album. Leaving the platform with the irresistible opener 'Sweet Escape', we stop off at a further eleven vignettes of aural pleasure before a final destination of my personal favourite ' Can't Say Goodbye' with its flowing (Curtis) Mayfieldesque feel. Along the way we've visited pop gems such as: the two singles 'Never Did Look Like Love' and 'Long, Long Gone' and tender tomes to unrequited and rekindled love in 'Sunshine In' and 'It's alright to change your mind'. Whereas New Street Adventure had a political edge to many of their lyrics this represents Corbin in a more contented phase of his life with an emphasis on personal relationships. There's little or no programming on show here and with musicians and backing vocalists used throughout we have an album that provides the listener with the dramatic finesse of a gifted songwriter and vocalist in front of real musician. A wonderful find to cheer up Lockdown blues.

A thing of beauty
Big fan of Nick Corbin from his NSA days, so have been waiting with some anticipation for his debut album. It did not disappoint. Nick's lyrics are so relatable; he has never been afraid to write about matters that he feels strongly about, whether that be of the heart or the society we live in. This new collection shows a sense of maturity; all the tracks are amazing, "Sunshine In" is top of the list for me, showing Nick's vocal range best, but also loving "Can't Say Goodbye", which gets better each time I listen. Looking forward to catching a live show when lockdown is over, but for now, this is perfect.

Highly Impressive.
This is a really impressive solo outing from Nick. I was a big fan of New Street Adventure and this album is a definite improvement on his work with them. His songwriting continues to be excellent and the album's production is really well done. My favourite new album for ages. There's also a very nice 12" remix of Sunshine In by the ultra reliable Smoove.
