Works with 2.5inch devices and also 3.5 if you add your own 12V Power
People have mentioned that this is not much good as it is not supplied with a power supply.However, it does clearly state this in the description. It works well from just the power in the USB as long as you are using it on a non power hungry 2.5inch device (such as anSSD).It does come with a standard 12VDC, 2.1mm inner-pin, centre positive power socket (which few of it's rivals do) and if you are like me, you have loads of old power supplies hanging around which you can use should you wish to use a 3.5inch HDD device. If not, they can be bought on Amazon by the bucket load.Overall a solid little unit with clear LED indicators for power and data that is fantastic value for money.

Steer Clear and Spend A Little More
Ive hard external hard docks for years and wanted a portable one that has a "faster connection speed".I ordered this and there was no power plug included but I had loads spare. So i I connected a working SSD that needs data recovering and the lights came on, the drive showed in windows explorer, the moment you press to view the drive it ejects itself and crashes. So I tried this on another computer...same outcome. I tried 2 more drives in both computers...same error.Moral of the story buy cheap buy twice. Spend a little more and you will reap what you sow.

light works but did nothing
I used the cable to try and recover data from a western digital wd20earx hd. As this cable does NOT have its own power supply, which you need for 3.5 inch hd`s, I used 2 different 12v adapters. The red and blue lights lit up on the cable but it did nothing when I plugged it into my pc`s usb slots. So for me it is a waste of money as it did not work.

Works, sometimes
The cable works great on my Linux laptop, but caused some serious issues on my Windows 10 desktop - ultimately leading to the entire USB ring freaking out and having to restart. Inconvenient as I wanted to use it primarily on the desktop. I knew an AC adapter wasn't included, but I have loads of them as they are the same supplies you'd get with any 3.5" desktop drive enclosure. Overall, it's good enough if you are on Linux, but a little overpriced for just a cable.

Done the job at getting files off and old 3.5" HDD. The only reason its not a 5 star is because to use on an HDD you need an additional 12v AC power cable which doesnt come with this...luckily i had one on hand.But aside from that top job

Not as shown in pictures
I have since found the get out clause of "without cable" hidden in the blurb near the bottom.This is advertised as 2.5 & 3.5 yet it's own decription says plug in the power cable when using a 3.5 drive. So basicially it may or maynot work with SOME 3.5 drives.. but not all.I could have spent £2 more and had one with the power cable but now I have to find a power cable due to being decieved. Morrally wrong and you know it.

No AC adapter - Incompatible for 3.5" drives.
No AC adapter is included as alluded to in the photos, and as such the device cannot connect to 3.5inch drives as advertised.The small disclaimed in the bottom of the description is not enough as most people (myself included) do not scout the small print before purchasing a cheap item, but instead buy expecting the product to perform as stated in the title and to resemble the images provided, which in this case do show an AC adapter.
