Will this hold iPad that has a holder/case? I don’t want to have to take that off everytime.

Yes it holds iPads and iPhones. Depending on the size of the case it may not work. There are two thicknesses on the device to choose from.

How thick is the notch? What device thickness will it support?

One notch is 9mm, and the other is 11mm. If the thickness of your device is less than 11mm, then it should be able to slide into one of those notches.

Can this hold an 12.9 ipad?

This product which was primarily designed for Cell Phones, is only 3” wide and may not support a 13” ipad. You can try it and return it if it does not suit your need. However, you can check our Celton Marketing Store under ASIN #B0151W0A2O, Ikea Comfortable and Adjustable Kitchen Cooking Tablet Stand (Bamboo), which might be more suited for your application. It is around 10”x6” and can be used for Tablets too. You can also check out our plastic stand under ASIN: B01DDRUH1, ISBERGET Office Table Top Tablet Stand, White. Hope this was helpful for you.
