I'm delighted to have a drink that has protein in it
I'm delighted to have a drink that has protein in it, and only 100 calories. However, the taste is not good. It's like chocolate water. I drink it for the protein, not the taste, which is a bit of a rub because there are other ways to take in those 100 calories that taste better. The best use I have found is when I cannot take a yogurt with me, I take this and drink it, but come away unsatisfied. There is another flavor, but the cost is vastly higher than this one, and I cannot imagine paying a huge amount for this product. I believe in boost, but this one is iffy.

I would not buy as a household staple.
Just the right size for carrying as a snack. It's half of a regular boost.

Tastes okay, does provide significant protein.
Anyone out there remember Metrecal? It was a liquid meal sold as a diet aid. Four cans a day @ 225 calories a can was supposed to be a full day's nutrition. Metrecal was the first thing I thought of when I tasted Boost 100. So I got curious and went to look up Metrecal which has been off the market since the mid-70s. From what I can gather the ingredients are roughly the same, skim milk powder, soy protein, oil, vitamins and minerals. Since both Boost and Metrecal have their roots in nutritional supplements for people who can't have a solid diet for whatever reason, it stands to reason that if it worked then, it's still going to work. And in fact that combination delivers a solid 10 grams of protein in each bottle, plus vitamins, minerals, some carbs and fats. It's a solid nutritional supplement with the added benefit of being low in caloriesNow if you look up Metrecal online you'll see all sorts of hand-waving about how awful it tasted. While I think that's mostly hyperbole from people who probably never even tasted the stuff, I'm not going to try to tell you it was the best thing since Cherry Garcia ice cream. It wasn't and neither is Boost 100. It's drinkable, nothing more. It's not a treat, but it won't make you gag. The advantage to Boost is the nutrition. If, for whatever reason, your diet isn't giving you enough nutrition, then this may help Personally I have a lot of trouble getting enough protein in my diet, so Boost is something that I may use on a regular basis. Not enthusiastically, mind you, but because it's one of the better choices.Bottom line, it's probably as good as any other convenient nutritional supplement. I think it's a bit pricey at a bit over $2 a bottle, but if you don't use more than one a day, it's not not a bad investment in your health.

the Fat Lady Sings.....
A few years ago my husband was in a nursing home - now called Skilled Nursing, which I suppose sounds better than NURSING home.It was there while visiting him each day that I had my first taste of BOOST. They gave it to him every time he wanted a drink andoften brought an extra for me. I have to admit I don't prefer supplemental, energy or dietary drinks but at the time, they sufficed. Now I am trying this out for an entirely different reason. I now live in a retirement community and because some high-calorie things areserved in our dining room daily, I have gained weight. So, someone told me that these drinks could cut down on your calories, Idecided to give it a try.Still not my favorite but neither are the extra pounds. If I could add a scoop of vanilla ice cream this review would probably sound better. But as that would defeat my purpose, I have been trying this Rich Chocolate Boost out. Certainly it does not rank up there with the bestdrink I ever had but considering all those vitamins, etc. I didn't expect much. These are 4 oz cans (Compact, they're called). I had 3 yesterday and the same today. What I can give a plus to was I didn't feel so constantly hungry. I did feel like doing more things duringthe day..... both days. I am going to continue until the 16 are GONE. It does leave somewhat of a taste in your mouth - not so bad that it was a chore to drink the remainder - but it wasn't a milk shake. I also should admit that I can be picky about my food so the fact I've had 6 of these so far is a good sign for me. At the end of the 16, I shall decide if I am on my way to Amazon for more or off to try another action that might help this old body. So, it's not over 'til.....
