Well it is here! After worldwide popular demand...
Well it is here! After worldwide popular demand---it is finally here-Bob Marley & I-Three & The Wailers---LIVE at the Rainbow Theatre-1977 on DVD (I wrote five letters to Tuff Gong Studios requesting to re-issue it from VHS to DVD). It arrived just in time to continue in our celebration for Brother Bob's 60th Birthday Celebration. In addition, it arrived just in time to be given as gifts during the Christmas and Kwanzaa holiday season. When the DVD arrived in my mailbox a few days ago, I want to check it out immediately (saw it many times on VHS, but DVDs are generally better in picture and sound quality) but I drew my brakes and waited for the weekend when I could allot a few hours of quality time to view it. I took off my shoes, sat in my favorite chair, lit up my peace pipe, poured a glass of my Ginseng & Herbal Root Elixir and popped in the concert DVD. Five minutes into the concert, I was taken back to the moments when I saw Bob Marley live in Philadelphia, PA--1978 the first time (I was blessed to witness Brother Bob in three concerts and visited his grave site-Nine Mile Road---in Rainbow Country--Jamaica). It was one the most awesome, uplifting and phenomenal musical experience in my life to date. The audience stood up the entire show---singing, chanting and dancing with the captivating 2/4-offbeat reggae rhythms as their political and spiritual consciousness was enhanced by Bob Marley's gusty and social conscious lyrics. (The building lights were turned on to stop the show because he was jammin so long and tuff.) His reggae lyrics are of sweet songs of Black Love; protest songs of Black Rebellion; powerful songs of Black Liberation and sorrow songs of Black Redemption utilizing African-Jamaican double-entendre, metaphors, proverbs, parables, utterances, call and response, and Biblical references as its method to touch the spiritual and cultural ethos of people of African descent, and others who can feel it. Bob Marley's offering to the unique genres of reggae music is an outstanding human testament to his survival ingeniousness and the will to achieve---to bare the worst and make something good out of it for all humanity to benefit. It has been said that some of the best of human musical artistic expressions can come out of the worst of human suffering and from the warm water deep in the well of human spirituality. Such was the circumstances of Bob Marley and so many other African-Jamaican musical artists who suffered and paid their dues to become impressive international reggae musicians that are driven by their raw talent, rebel politics and Rastafarian spiritual convictions. The concert at the Rainbow Theater shows Bob Marley when he was at his apex on the world music stage singing some of his most cherished and classical tunes. His passionate artistic musical delivery, energy, style, timing and lyrics have carved a permanent place in millions of minds, hearts and souls worldwide. Purchase this DVD today and place it among your most special, loved and sacred music. Also, buy it and pass it on as a unique gift. Bob Marley & I-Three & The Wailers---LIVE at the Rainbow Theatre-1977 on DVD was my 53rd Birthday present to I & I (to me & from me).One Love-Forward & Upward,Brother Ras Mojo Ibo Changa

The quality of the product was better than expected because it was not new
I knew when I bought it that is was not new but the price was hard to resist.I was very pleased with the quality of the product considering the price I would have to pay for a new one.I will buy from them again and the money, I am told, went to a charitable foundation.

Legend-ary Performance
Bob, The Wailers and the I-Threes were spot-on during this great performance. You can tell they had been rehearsing diligently because every song is so tight musically and vocally. It is very difficult to pick a favorite song here because each one is executed with such precision. If you have a decent sound system, the rhythm section rocks. Every song has a funky bass line with some very unique percussion that goes along with the Reggae genre. The I-Threes add so much with their back-up vocals and harmonies, really emphasizing certain lyrics for more impact. Bob was a captivating performer. His stage presence, vocal ad-libs and movements all seem to add something to the songs. The greatest music for me also has a spiritual quality and this man was definitely spiritual. His lyrics are still relevant today. To sum it up, awesome DVD.

Fantastic Concert DVD W/Bonus Material + Fantastic Documentary DVD = 1 Fantastic 2 DVD Set!!!!!!
First, I'll cover the concert DVD. After listening to the recently release of Bob Marley & The Wailers, Last, Live, Concert Performance CD Set (Live Forever), I thought "Wow", it sure would have been great to have had it on DVD. But it's not available on DVD, but this is perhaps the next best thing. This concert was filmed in 1977, at London's Rainbow Theatre. This concert captures the late/great, "King of Reggae", & his band/backup singers at their best. The concert, the filming, the atmosphere, the band, the "vibe", the crowd, and everything is fantastic. Plus, you get bonus material on this concert DVD, including exclusive interviews, and a visit to the Bob Marley Museum in Kingston, Jamaica, & Tuff Gong recording studio. On the Documentary DVD: You get 100 minutes, that trace Bob Marley's life, with interviews from family & friends, & rare archival footage of Bob Marley himself. Also, you get bonus material, including approximately 20 minutes of menus, exclusive interviews, and a tour of Nine Mile, Jamaica. This is the perfect 2 DVD Set, to go along, with the recently released, "Last, Live, Concert, of Bob Marley & The Wailers CD Set",- "Live Forever", recorded in September of 1980, not long before his death. If you like Bob Marley, you'll love this 2 DVD Set. Thanks!!!!

amazing show without the incessant sax
I have both the Legend Live DVD and this one. They are very different shows. This one is all about the guitars, bass and lead. The other one is all about the horns, especially the sax. Marley and the backup singers are incredible in both, but I am the odd out and I hate sax in rock or reggae bands. All too often sax players have no concept of moderation or subtlety, blowing their horn incessantly. If you are a guitar fan and not a sax fan, this is the one to get. If you like sax and you like guitar, lead and bass, then get both for sure. Some people made the astute observation that the band in this show is heavily influenced by new wave bands at the time such as the Clash. I love the Clash, but I was afraid the playing would be less melodic and hypnotic as it otherwise was. Fortunately, it is just as musical and hypnotic and melodic, but with the punch only a great bass and lead guitar can infuse, not unlike Led Zep or Hot Tuna. Amazing show for sure. I hope this helps some of you who are not sure which way to go.

Très grand show

Bob Marley and The Wailers: Exodus. Live at the Rainbow
Absolutely superb. If you love our Bob but couldn't ever get to see him then this is the DVD to get, live and raw, just as it is meant to be. Don't expect a fantastic quality, as it wasn't around in those days, but expect a true performer, performing at his best back in the day, not whipped up, or hyped up, just performing.I was queuing outside the Rainbow on this night, yes queuing, there was no internet, no rip off booking fees, just true fans queuing to see there favourite non-miming musicians that could play their instruments very well to fantastically and you had to get up off your backside to go to the venue and actually buy tickets with cash and choose your seat in the Rainbow, awesome place to go gigging listening to this gig where possible, when stopped in the queue by exit doors, I was queuing for ages to get tickets for a Rory Gallagher gig and a Groundhogs gig, £2.50 got you a really good seat, I was unable to get Bob Marley tickets for this gig, I think he done two nights there. I first saw this gig on TV and now I have what I missed but partially heard from outside in its entirety, if you like Bob Marley, just get it, you won't be disappointed.
