How do you make it so the Velcro straps do not hang over the foot? They are too long.

Hey I know it looks very complicated and man did I wrestle with that shoe. But once you figure it out it actually makes since. DO NOT CUT STRAPS. You do not want to cut them because what if you need a large ace bandage or a small one. This shoe was meant to accommodate a various number of changes to your foot. Start by Putting lace through bottom hole first ( work from bottom up to insure the level of tightness) If you notice there is velcro on entire strip, so insert the strip bring all the way over to the other side and when you bring back over while adhere it to the velcro all the way over to the other side. ( take a look at the picture showing the shoe) Now do the same with the top strap. If you still can not do this. Let me know. I will make a video for you.

can it be worn over a shoe or sneaker?

I didn't wear it over a shoe. Wore it with socks. I am not sure if the straps would fit over a shoe. Basically, this is your shoe..

Can this be used with an ankle stabilizer

The boot is big for the size so an ankle stabilizer should fit fine in my opinion (never tried it).
