Fisher-Price View - Master Discovery Learning Sounds Projector

I first started buying these to use in practice, working with developmentally/physically/mentally challenged children birth-3 yo. When they graduated at 3 yo I gave them one as a "Moving-On Birthday gift. This encouraged small motor, hand/eye coordination and talking. I set up as going to the movies and the family and I even had snacks. The child would show pictures, controlling the flow and would describe or say what the picture said/meant to them. Later, some families had family night at the movies, starring their little ones. This taught them to get 'dressed' for the special ocassion and gave the child confidence. There are a host of ways this was used and I knew that 3 yo was ready to tackle school better with all the intervention ideas we taught. My own Grandchildren loved them as well. All the kids, great nieces/nephews cousins got one of these from us. Can not tell you how many Show/Tell projects received top grades using this. I remembered as a child the older Viewmasters and how you had to hold it up to the light and manuver the lever to move the pictures. Well, it has evolved and it is so much more. This projector can use the older/20 years ago reels too. Really had a blast when grandma brought out the reels she saved from when the parents were kids. It was wonderful.

My grandsons loved this. Each of the younger ones got one for Christmas. They had gotten collapsible tents too. So, they disappeared into their respective tents to play with them for long periods of time. We always knew where they were quietly playing. The projectors rotate straight up to display on the ceiling too. You only get three picture reels that emit really low-toned, brief sounds. Other reels are hard too find and are expensive. However, regular reels work in them. They are sturdy and colorful. They can be quite pricey, if you don't shop around. The boys like them so, I love them! Delivery was fast and packaging wa secure.

Purchased the View Master for a project for some elderly residents at a nursing home. I was planning on doing a group with the View Master, but that became impossible because the View Master has to be very close to surface to get a clear picture and not all would see it. The closer the View Master is to the wall the picture is clear but very small , and the far away it is the picture is very blurry and hard to see the details of the picture. The sound is not very loud at all.

I don't mind the fact that the reels are so short or that they are only a few available. I expected that. What I didn't expect was the almost inaudible commentary which none of the other reviews mentioned. The main reason I got this for my 2 1/2 year old son was because it had sound. What the use of that feature if the volume is so low you can hardly hear it? It can't be the batteries. They are new and top notch.I've heard of toys set to demo mode which affects the volume but I've searched this toy backward and forward and see no such switch. Is the toy defective? Is it the reel itself or am I missing something? If I could just raise the volume so a human could hear it I'd give this toy four stars.

Only two minor complaints. I'm not expecting high definition, but it would be nice if you could dial in the focus a little bit finer. The picture ends up just a little blurry. Secondly, the transition between pictures is a bit noisy.The kiddos love it and it does offer an occasional change of pace to reading a bedtime story. The audio sound is good (for the reels that have it), it's durable, and not terribly expensive...so I'm happy, but only 3 stars happy with it.

The toy is very good, seems indestructible, but just one disk with more or less 10 pictures!!!If you want to buy more they cost like 30$ !I bought some used old ones (with no audio). I aspect my niece to get bored soon of it, but with just one view-master is too soon and is not worthed anymore.Also the projection is very small, I was expecting something bigger (is like 50cm x 50cm at a distance of 2.5 meters)I think my niece would like it anyway :-)

I do not agree with anyone who wrote bad reviews on this product. I consider this projector to exceed all expectations for its price. Obviously, this is not a high-quality projector like you would want for your home theater =) But for kids viewing the slides in place of story time before bed it's absolutely fantastic! You have to find the right distance and angle for each particular reel (some show better closer to the wall or ceiling, while others show better from far away) and the images are crystal clear. I was hesitant to order this item after reading all the negative reviews, but my daughter was begging for it and I took my chances. Glad I did!

With this toy, is possible to project in a wall those old viewmasters discs, even those without sound. It has 3 buttons in the front, (1) to play/repeat the sound, (2) to go to the next slide and (3) to activate an automatic foward timer. It has a manual focus and a speaker at the front. The device is build in high quality plastic, and uses 6 batteries. Comes with one demonstration disc. I am very satisfied with this acquisition.
