A Confidence Builder
I purchased the Barnett Crank Cocking Device for my 12 year old son, Billy. He has a Barnett Panzer V Crossbow and has become very proficient with it. However, because of his height and arm length, he is too short to use a rope cocking device. I always had to cock it for him. Installation of Barnett's Crank Cocking Device is fairly easy. Just read and follow the step by step directions. Billy and I installed it together. He can now easily and safely cock his crossbow and load his own bolts. This has greatly boosted his confidence in himself and given us more quality time shooting together. Billy bagged his first deer last year and is hoping to get a trophy buck in the upcoming season. This product is well worth the money. Incidentally, using Amazon's Super Saver Discount, I was able to purchase this device for $83.30. Great Deal!

Works great on a Barnett DOA Crossbow
I was hesitant to order this, because of the reviews talking about the instructions, and because the DOA is not listed, but I figured I'd risk it. The DOA turns out to have a Quad 400 stock and a Predator front end. It appears that Barnett has re-done the main instructions for the crank, as they worked fine. It took me about 15 minutes to install, and it works good without any binding or catching on the bow frame or string. The hook holder instructions were pretty vague, but it was easy enough to figure out.

Barnett Quad 400 Crank Device
This device works great except for two problems! The rubber hook spindle bracket only comes with adhesive pad to secure the rubber bracket in place. This was not strong enough to keep the rubber hook spindle in place. There is a hole in the top of the rubber bracket but did not come with a screw. I went to a hardware store and bought a 1/2 self-tapping screw and drilled a small starter hole and used the self-tapping screw to secure the rubber bracket in place. The second problem is after you shoot the crossbow and start winding the cranking device and get close to the end and hook the spindle to the rubber holder the strings get caught in the grove and the small pulleys and you have to be very careful or it will end up cutting the nylon string!Roy Cordingley

aaaaawesoooome
i gotta tell ya very helpfull product easy to install easy to operate. This crossbow crank really is a great buy with me being dissabled it makes drawing the bow very easy on the body if your a shooter then you should know that constantly drawing back a croossbow by hand is hard on the fingers and body. But with this simple to use device you can enjoy your crossbow shooting experience all day long without the wear and tear on yourself and if your disabled like myself it really makes your life easier and you can enjoy things that you thought were lost.I would recomend this product to anyone i can say that barnett means great usa quality thats for sure thanks to all the good people at barnett and amazon im able to enjoy shooting again thank you all.

Barnett Crank Cocking Device
I ordered this to go with my Barnett Quad 400. When I ordered by Quad, I ordered the Barnett Rope Cocking device along with it and thought that this Crank system would work much better and easier. I watched a youtube video of a guy who used it and said that it cocks the string much more even therefore making your bow more accurate.Well, once I got it and took it out of the box, my first impression was that it was cheaply made and the string on it was very thin. Installation is pretty straight forward and easy but the crank device string kept getting stuck in the bow's cocking string channel, which made me have to uninstll the device and re-install just to run into the same thing.. the crank cocking device string would get caught up on the bow's string cocking channel. It would work for about 1-3 shots and then get caught.. if I tried to take the string out of the channel without having to remove the device all together, the cocking device string would become uneven, therefore would cock my bow's string uneven, which just doesn't work at all! After a few times of going in this circle, I decided that it's my own fault and that I'm just not installing it correctly. I took the crank cocking device and my Qaud 400 to my local archery shop and paid them to put it on. They did and and we shot it at their range and again after 1-3 shots the string would get caught and the cocking device string would become uneven.Needless to say that the Barnett Crank Cocking Device I ordered is back in its box with the Amazon return label on it and once the holiday season shipping lanes clear up some after Christmas, it's going back to Amazon for a refund.I really gave this Crank Cocking device a shot and more so wanted it to work for me, but it just didn't. When it did work for those first couple of shots, it worked great and I could see the value in this device vs. the rope cocking method, but at the end of the day, if it doesn't work it just doesn't work. I would in no way trust this out in the field. I even thought I'd keep it and will always carry my rope cocking device with me, but at $80 + dollars, no.. that's not going to work. I really wish it worked for me, but it just didn't and I'm pretty disapointed. If I didn't have taken it to my archery shop, I'd think it was just me installing it incorrectly, but again and very unfortunately that wasn't the case.. maybe I just got a bad one but looking at its quality and the quality of the string it uses to cock the bow string, I'm not convinced that ordering another one will be much better.I'm going to continue using my rope cocking device and it's a sure and trused method of cocking my Quad 400. Sorry Barnett, I really wished this would work for me.
