Great protection
I bought the Thule Vectros for my 15" MacBook Pro Retina (Model A1398). I must say I spent hours researching the best kind of protection for my MBP, because I want to preserve and protect my investment the best I can. After looking at a lot of the plastic and rubberized snap-on cases, I wasn't convinced that any would provide me with the protection I wanted. I saw the Thule (and the price that went with it) and thought, "Why not?" So, I shelled out $80 and bought it.Two days later (the day I'm writing this), the Thule Vectros arrived at my front door. I opened Amazon's packaging and saw the Thule box inside. The first thing I was surprised with was the weight. I expected the case to be a lot heavier, but it only weighs a few ounces. (Amazon says it weighs 11.4 ounces; that's probably right.)Upon opening the box, the first thing I saw were the two halves of the Vectros separated by a thick piece of cardboard. The installation instructions were printed on the cardboard and the two protective plastic sheets were contained in a white paper envelope. I detached the two halves from the cardboard and pulled the protective sheets out of the envelope. I placed everything on a sturdy table with plenty of space so I could work easily.Installation took me about ten minutes, even with the protective sheets. Make sure to peel the sheet of film off each protector (it's on the smooth side that will be against the Mac's body) before installing. It takes a little muscle to snap everything into place, but nothing someone of average strength shouldn't be able to manage. One thing I found helpful was to press the stubborn clips against the computer and up in the direction they have to move to clip on. You will probably have to flip and rotate your Mac a little to do this. Like I said, though, installation took ten minutes and was a breeze.I also tried removing the Vectros. It is not too hard with some elbow grease and a plastic popper/remover or a small flathead screwdriver (make sure not to scratch the MacBook's body). Everything snaps off relatively easily, but you do have to use some muscle again. If you have to take it apart, I recommend going in reverse order of installation; that is, take the monitor piece off first and then the bottom piece.Based on the effort required to apply or remove the Vectros, I feel pretty good about the quality. The Vectros is stiff and feels very sturdy. It doesn't add too much thickness to the already slim MacBook Pro but I feel much more confident about carrying my MBP around under my arm or in a bag. The pads on the bottom are a nice touch, too; they feel much sturdier than the standard Apple pads. I really like the clasp that holds the screen shut, as I think it makes the lid easier to open. (I found it a little difficult to open my naked MBP's lid.) However, the top-center clip near the clasp sometimes un-clips itself from the screen when I open the lid. So far, this is the only thing I've found lacking with the Vectros.I am definitely happy with my Thule Vectros purchase for my 15" MacBook Pro and I look forward to putting it through its paces. Do yourself and your expensive MBP a favor and buy this case. You won't regret it.

Beyond protection, a solution for Apple's design anorexia
Is it just me, or are there other Apple users out there who who think Apple designers and engineers have an anorexia problem? Like an anorexic, they can't tell when too thin is too thin. Their perversely portless new MacBook looks like you can blow it off a table. And I've read more than one iPhone 6 review that complains about that product's sacrifice of battery life for the sake of shaving off a few millimeters of thickness. When I decided to upgrade from my 2011 silver MacBook to a 15 inch Macbook Pro, I found the older technology, thicker non-retina model more attractive in many ways. The 15 inch oldie looks much more robust and has a more complete port layout than the too-thin retina screen models, which require a dongle for an ethernet port because the computer is too thin to accommodate one directly. But since I'm a photographer, which makes the retina screen the top priority, I had to swallow the too-skinny retina MBP.I just got finished installing the Thule Vectros bumper protector frame on my new MBP. As readers of this review can surmise from my preceding rant, I am very pleased at the thickness the Vectros adds to the computer. The polycarbonate material, while not tacky, provides a stepped edge that allows a much better grip than what is provided by the too-smooth MBP aluminum shell. IMHO this grippability defect makes all new Apple laptops drop accidents waiting to happen. My first Mac was a 2007 polycarbonate black MacBook which I still have and still works, though the screen has faded with a yellowish tinge that makes it tough to use for photo processing. Still, this oldest among all of my macs is the most satisfying to grip. The Vectros brings much of that grippy feel to my new 15 inch MBP. As an added bonus, the Vectros has short little elevation pads on the four underneath corners, which get the MBP a few millimeters up from the work surface to improve ventilation and cooling. At the time I purchased the Vectros I also ordered both models of Think Tank Photo's My Second Brain computer bags, which I highly recommend. All TTP products are first class, and these cases, one with portrait oriented carry and one landscape, are specifically designed for MBPs. I crossed my fingers that the additional size and thickness of the Vectros would not make the MBP too big for these bags. No problem, my 15 inch MBP with the Vectros bumper fits both perfectly.Only time will tell as to the effectiveness and longevity of my new Vectros. But for now, congrats to Thule for an outstanding piece of precision protective engineering. And five stars for a product that, for me, has as much aesthetic as protective appeal.

Case falls apart after a month of use
Having to change my review from 5 stars to 1 star. I have now gone through two of these cases because the tabs that clip the bottom and top keep breaking off. Also the plastic around on outside cracks easily. I have not dropped it or anything excessive. Sits on my desk, carry around my house and travel in computer case about once a month. The first case I had replaced under warranty but now just fed up the second one broke down faster than the first one. Until Thule upgrades the quality of the black plastic, I would stay away from this case and choose a different bumper armored case. For the price, I would have expected better.Fits perfectly. Wish the inside came in a different color like maroon or was just black to match. This is a very practical case and not for looks. The contours allow easy grip of the laptop which helps keep the slick mac surface from slipping out of my hands when going to different conference rooms. Gives me peace of mind if I drop it I will not ruin it. I did not put plastic on bottom that comes with it since I wanted to maximize heat dissipation. Be careful that many other cases cover the bottom and hold in dangerous heat that will lower your mac lifespan. All the cables fit fine and do not interfere with the case. Vent holes are perfectly matched. The cons on this is the top flap that comes over top to lock in place sometimes pops a little off of screen. Not a big deal. Getting the plastic insert to fit on back of monitor is a little tricky to lock in while you put case on. This case is up there on price, but felt it was worth it to protect a $2500 laptop and more importantly keep me working in case I drop it. Since my computer bag has wheels this case gives extra protection while in there as my computer bag is jostled around, dropped, etc as I travel.

At first I was sceptical to spend so much money on a laptop case. However, its very close to being a perfect case. Its really sturdy and has a good texture feel to it. The scratch screen is really helpful as well and still shows the apple logo clearly. I had read reviews where they stated that fitting this together was difficult but I disagree, it took me almost no time to fix it to my laptop. The best thing about this would be the four grips at the bottom. They hold your laptop in place so even at an angle it doesn't slide. Even when you close the laptop, it closes securely so the screen doesn't swing open.

Awesome case !!
I have a 2015 MacBook Pro Retina display model 15inch.This is ideal! I put this together and had it in place in 90seconds , dead easy to fit , looks amazing , opens and closes as easy as it did before I had a case on , and gives me a lot more peace of mind if it falls there's a solid chance it will survive!! Perfect case to look after your expensive laptop! Plus it comes with scratch protection for the exposed parts on the top and bottom which gives it a Matt finish (not stickers it's more of a film that fits into place) looks awesome!
