The best way for folks to learn to play the piano!
My piano teacher used these books many many MANY years ago. I was very happy when my nephews teacher also used these books to teach. My nephew is on book 4 and he's really good and enjoys learning. These are timeless and do exactly what they are supposed to do. :)

I have been playing piano for 40 years. I learned with this series and I only teach with this series. Highly recommend.

John Thompson's Modern Course for the Piano-Fourth Grade
This is harder than the AMEB's 4th grade and so if you can play these you should ace your AMEB exam. You will need a teacher however and to listen to the original versions of these pieces on cd because they are classical. Tricky ! I love classical music and I love a challenge ! This is only the 4th grade version of these pieces but it has technically difficult things to learn. This is a technical book and not for fun but I love a challenge and I love this book ! I've spent hours trying to master the pieces and I found the challenge great fun ! I loved all the hours that I spent with this book !

Just like the old ones!
I haven't actually used this one yet. I got the second, third, and this. I haven't played in a while, so am using these to get back up to speed. My originals are in tatters.

Still learning!
Many years ago I left off at the third grade level. Thompson’s doesn’t disappoint. Enjoying being at the keyboard again.

I bought John Thompson levels 2, 3 and 4 - levels 2 and 3 as a review and practice for level 4 which I am anxious to tackle again as I did as a student many, many years ago.

Very nice...
Just got this but I am hooked - such nice arrangements of famous piano pieces, with short, tidy explanations of things. I'm no expert, but think I'll be gettng my money's worth....
