Giving it 5 stars because I think it would be 5 stars given the right conditions. I didn’t read the description fully and didn’t realize that it wouldn’t work as soon as a shadow covers the solar cells…..so placing the birdbath in full sun to get it to work = hot water. Also, as someone else noted, more sun = more powerful spray….which means the water sprays out of the birdbath and you’re left with an empty birdbath (of course, depending on the size of the birdbath bowl). Will try the suggestion to take the spray nozzle off altogether. In the meantime I just double-sided taped the unit to the bottom of the bowl and got less spray (which seems like it will work if the Gorilla tape holds). I had also tried covering up a couple of the solar cells to see if that would make for a smaller spray, but the unit didn’t work when I did that). Will have to find something else to use in dappled sun.

The perfect touch for your bird bath! I love that it comes with different nozzles to choose from. It’s not noisy at all and is easy to use and assemble. The water shoots all day and is strongest m during peak sun hours. One thing to keep in mind is to measure your bird bath! I ended up buying a bird bath that was a bit smaller and the water would shoot out of it until I changed nozzles.

Item works as stated and is pretty cool, actually.But just be aware...It only works in 100% sunshine. There is no battery or power retention, so when the sun goes behind a cloud or early in the morning or in the evening, or on cloudy days, it doesn't work. If you pass your hand above it, the stream drops precipitously. (pun absolutely intended)And...The water evaporates/spills from the basin very quickly (in my arid climate), so be sure your basin has a large volume if you want it to run all day (if it dries up, you risk burning up the pump, and you have pool floaty). I keep a couple of gallon jugs of water next to it to refill it during the day. It's a bit of up keep.Final note: to keep it centered in your basin, it has four, little, adjustable arms that attach. The diameter of my basin (12"?) was too small to attach the arms, so my fountain moves all over, changing the spray pattern and spitting water on the surrounding flower pot. Not unpleasant, but not great either. I just have to refill the basin AT LEAST twice a day on a sunny day.If you have (stagnant) water that needs to be "stirred," (stock tanks, kiddie pools, etc) that is in a sunny place, this could be ideal for you.It is fun to watch and sounds lovely. Just more upkeep than I was hoping for, so I only use it periodically now. Still glad I got it, though.

I am pleased with this. Before buying from Amazon, I read the reviews and company product. This product has to be in water up to the line on the side or over the top for it to work correctly. During the heat, water evaporates often so keep an eye out for water levels. Also, I removed it when we went on vacation and placed it face down in the garage so it could get no sun light. The pump can burn out with no water.

It works great and nice to have the various styles of fountain designs....I did discover that you really need a large bird bath to keep the water from spraying over the container which causes the bowl to empty pretty fast.....especially if the day is sort of windy.......so now i am shopping for the large bird bath.....

This is a super simply solar fountain feature that floats on the water. When in Sun light the pump runs - when there is no Sun light (even a second) the fountain turns off.The fountain comes with a variety of nozzles to chose from which was a surprise. My problem with this otherwise great unit is in a 12" or 16" bird bath - AND the fountain is getting Sun light - the pump will spray water pretty high (10"+) and a lot of the water just sprays out of the bird bath. So, in about 30 minutes of the fountain spraying - your bird bath is almost empty.I took all attachments off and now the water just boringly bubbles up through the middle (but I dont lose any water.)

This product produces a nice tall fountain of water, especially in strong sunlight. However, it defeats the purpose of having it, if the stream of water is so powerful that it splashes all the water out of the birdbath! Probably would work okay with deep, large diameter pedestal birdbaths. But if you have hanging birdbaths, forget it. I have both 12 inch and 16 inch hanging birdbaths, and the water, due to splashing, emptied out of both in less than a half hour. Wish it had a bubbler attachment, so that it produced water movement, but no high fountaining to splash out.Update: This is a great seller. They emailed me and offered me a full refund because I was not satisfied. They also suggested that I might just try running it without the fountain nozzle attachments and see if that solved the problem. I tried that, and it worked. No high fountaining, just a low level burbling effect that kept the water moving, but in the birdbath, where it belonged, lol! Somewhat disappointed that I can't enjoy the high fountaining effect, but this is a happy medium.

Perfect for my birdbath. Keeps the water moving and more fresh. While I still clean out my birdbath daily since its miserably hot here, this ensures that the water isn't getting insects since they don't like the movement. Bubbles a little even when the sun isn't directly on the fountain. My bath is quite small so this just fits with maybe two inches all around. I had to cut the small white plastic rods that keep it in place to fit which was no problem. Easy to assemble right out of the box and worked immediately. Love it!
