EMOTIONAL
SPOILER ALERT.....This is a very emotional movie. I really felt for all of the characters. All of the acting was amazing. This movie dragged a bit. It was sad from beginning to end. This movie really needed some comedy relief.Lucy (Ellen Page) was 14, and her brother was a baby, when their older sister took on the responsibility of raising them - - after their father stabbed their mother to death. So, it is 8 years later, and the three of them are a little family coping with the fact that their father is on death row about to be executed. The three siblings often travel together in their RV to different protests regarding the death penalty, in different prisons in different states. They are, of course, against the death penalty because they don't want their father killed.Lucy meets a woman (named Mercy) who is on the other side - - protesting in favor of the death penalty. They are attracted to each other and become lovers. They see each other from time to time, at different protests. Finally, Lucy travels to Mercy's house, only to find out that Mercy has been living with her boyfriend whom she had never mentioned existed.Lucy is devastated over her lover's betrayal and her father's execution. The three siblings go off in the RV and move away for a fresh start.Six months pass, and Mercy suddenly finds Lucy to tell her that she has broken up with her boyfriend. They hug and agree to get together.THE END

Elliot and Kate have great chemistry and perfect timing but prepare to get your heart ripped out
The acting is fantastic. The production values are great. Am I surprised there isn't exactly a happy ending? No. But this story takes an interesting look at two sides to a hotly debated issue and finds the common humanity. This is not a fast paced movie, but the wonderful thing about it is that it lets the characters *breathe* and I love it. I have seen it twice now and will definitely watch it again in the future.

Great movie- Underrated.
Came upon this movie by accident and decided to watch it because of Page and Mara. Both are phenomenal in this movie and the chemistry between them were palpatating. Definitely underrated and didnt get enough exposure as it deserved. Watch it! No regrets.

Far better than I expected
Once you get past the 'sex-to-sell-the-film' bits it is a surprisingly good film. Shows the problems of putting your life on hold for a cause which, despite its importance, becomes just another activity. Is also unusual in that it is not a straight polemic against or for the death penalty, but tries to show it in context. The fact it is centred around a lesbian relationship is actually incidental: it would have worked just as well with any combination of sexes.

Quality L of LGBT movie
I love this movie. It still has some of the major queer tropes (you know, either someone is in the closet or one of them is dating a guy when they meet, we aren’t allowed movies without one of these two tropes it seems) but it’s a relatively small part of the movie! Honestly a quality lesbian film without being overly exploitative!
