Lots of capabilities and knobs to turn, or use setup wizards.
I bought a Gotrax XR Ultra and it was too slow. I have done lots of work to it including using this controller. I have been able to attach two extra batteries, which provide more current and the max speed is now over 17 mph, which stock was 13.6mph (even though they say 15.5).I also bought the Bluetooth module for this and it works great with the cheap android phone I bought to use as a connection device and display. This controller has lots of features to tweak every aspect of what you could hope to work with. I am running a sensorless motor, but just ordered a sensored motor. The controller works very well to run the sensorless motor in FOC mode instead of BLDC mode, so it is noce and quiet and powerful, even without the hall sensors.I am running a throttle and a Hall effect brake lever (normal e-scooter/e-bike brake) and it works great with the controller. It also has cruise control, although I have issues where the cruise cuts off power after about 10 seconds of riding. I rigged up another form of cruise with a button and a potentiometer so that it acts like a throttle that stays on at a certain voltage once I push the button.Overall, I absolutely love this controller and will either buy the dual ESC or will just buy another one of these to add a second motor to my scooter.

Great VESC-based Speed Controller
Don't waste your time on the other $20-$40 junk controllers on here and eBay. They burn up in minutes with any real load, because the sellers are all lying about the current output rating, and they'll never be smooth because they can't be configured for the motor being used. This controller does what it should. I used it to convert a POS Sunjoe mower without any way to swap batteries easily, to use Kobalt 24v parts, so I could use my mower longer than a single charge per day.It works very well. Setup was easy with the VESC program and a USB cable, and it handles the load from a mower blade affixed to a weed trimmer motor just fine. If it does eventually burn up, I'd buy another one for similar purposes.

Still OVERHEATS even with heatsink
Not my first VESC, but this one is the first to give me so many problems. Physically, it was decently built, but the soldering was very poorly done and had some cold joints. PWM wires were really brittle and snapped off, so I had to solder them back on. I tried FOC/Sinsoudal mode on the VESC. But no matter what I do, even with the programming tool’s Wizard configuration, it would not properly do motor detection. So I switched to BLDC mode, which is more reliable. Right off the bat, I noticed the thing overheated REALLY quick. And that was with the heatsink in the open and the motor settings set to 40a. It will NOT get you over a short decent hill without thermal throttling and coming to a crawl. I’ve had other 4.12 VESCs (without heatsinks!) that would handle the same hills no problem. The company stated they used cheaper FETs, and this really quick overheating is probably because of that.

Power Wheels Variable Throttle
Upgraded my son's 12v Lightning McQueen with a variable throttle and this ESC in DC mode with ADC input. Runs at 24v and I can limit AMPs to keep it to a reasonable speed. Works with the original shifter and reverse too! Pretty cool that I can adjust the throttle curve but its a bit complex to configure.

Budget price high value product.. awesome 50a drone esc
Perfect 50amp esc with high grade silicone wires not cheap rubber that melts as soon as any heat touches it.. works above and beyond low priced expectations...

Garbage
Never had one work right. Buy anything else, build anything else, just don't go down this rabbit hole thinking it will ever work

Heat sinks!
Great VESC for beginners and advanced users. The added heat sinks prevent the unit from getting too hot and turning off.

Stops working quickly
This ESC was used in an electric longboard with a Flipsky compatible motor and it worked great for about three uses then suddenly stopped working. We thought it may have been a wiring issue, but after double-checking all connections the ESC still did not turn on and was unable to be detected by a computer. We contacted customer service about the issue and received no response. Overall very disappointed in the quality of this ESC especially with the price point.
