A Grand Adventure
I got this book for my 6 year old niece, but it was just as fun for the adults to read as well. The possibilities are endless for this crazy family as they entertain themselves throughout the sleeping hours. The art is really fun and fantastical. We loved the extra challenge of finding the hidden frog(s) on each page. Some of them were really difficult to spot! I definitely recommend this book!

Looking forward to more like this
This book has quickly become a favorite in this house (boys aged 3 and 5) for its absurdist humor. I suspect they get about 60% of the jokes but they like it and I like Colin so it all works out well. More of these please.

Beautiful artwork but writing more for adults rather than most children
The artwork is wonderfully beautiful, the writing has a kind of silliness to it that I like, the premise is certainly fun. My only minor dislike of this book is the obscure references to hipster culture/musicians that at times come off more snobby, because it's done so many times throughout the book. One or two would have been fine by me, but once you start littering the book with "cool" name-drops and references, then its just showing off in that quintessential hipstery sort of way, since the particular names and stuff doesn't always add anything to the scenes in the book, especially I imagine, for kids.I liked that one other reader of this book saw those references as opportunities to start conversations with kids, get them to expand their knowledge of things beyond their age level...but, I think there are just too many references in the book for it be continuially interesting to small kids? Maybe? I can totally see a kid asking every other page "what does that mean?" Or "who is that?" And feeling a bit left out of the reading the story WITH you. It's nice to explain things and engage, but if you have to explain every other reference it's more of a lecture down to kids than it is story time, eh? I would say this is a fun picture/art story book for adults that kids can partake in, not the other way around. I still like it, but it does make me question who this is really written for. It's totally possible to write kids books that parents will want to re-read at story time that doesn't exclude children from some of the writing.

Really nice book.
I was browsing on deals I believe, and ran across this. It's hard cover and a great value for the money.

Inappropriate wording
I got this book for my 5 year old granddaughter. After reading it myself first, I decided to return it. Some of the words in this book were a little inappropriate for any child.

This book is the best book
I took this out of the library and read it to my two year old every day for 21 days. It was so much fun! So much fun to read aloud. I like to read it picking up speed as I go to match the energy of the family as things get more and more nutty! My daughter loves the art and the cadence and we play “spot the frogs” as we go through the book to see how many we can find. Nothing in this book is inappropriate for any age child, really. It’s a little, I dunno, risqué? maybe? In the way Roald Dahl can be risqué. Like Roald Dahl scandalous. Like exciting and adventurous in a safe and harmless way.And on the “obscure references” note, they’re probably a bit obscure to most people! Doesn’t make the book any less fun or enjoyable. And it’s not snobbery when other people know things you don’t. Let’s all just relax!Wonderful book!

Great illustrations too modern concepts
This book is a little too hip for a children’s book but the designs are great. Something different for a change

Not relevant for children.
Don’t like this story. It is not very funny and had too many obscure references to people or music which most adults haven’t heard of much less that children can relate to.
