First unit I bought would not turn on. It gets stuck at Power On. The replacement unit I received two days later will get an Error 7 every time a firmware update was perform. Additionally, it would not produced any sounds through the speaker. The auto calibration would just get stuck in the beginning every time. Talk about quality control...

AVOID-Set up app is completely broken and Pioneer has not fixed it. Returned two of these.
First off- the sound quality seems to be excellent and everything I have come to expect from an Elite receiver. But unless you are planning to have a team of professionals install it, do not buy this item. Pioneer seems to be no longer supporting home users. The key here is you cannot just read the Amazon and Crutchfield reviews, you have to read the reviews on their setup app "start-up navi" in both the Apple and Android store.[...]In short it is a completely useless piece of software that crashes constantly. Did I mention it was useless? That really sucks because its proposed use is SETTING UP ALL THE SPEAKERS AND PERIPHERALS ON YOUR SYSTEM. I am now on my second SC-95 and the problems have gotten worse, with the app crashing 100% of the time when I try to calibrate the speakers with MACC or add a new device. On the first one it was only about 75% of the time.Even though installing the first one took hours due to buggy software, it still worked well (at first). But then every few hours of using Airplay it would suddenly not recognize my network or be discoverable, requiring me to reconfigure all the network setting again (including once at 11PM at my New Years Party). Every time this occurred I would have to use the 75% crashing app to try and restore it with varying degrees of success. After about 3 weeks of this, I gave up and assumed my unit was defective, then exchanged it.So far on the second SC-95 I have not been able to make it through an entire set up once without the entire app crashing, rendering my unit only partially configured. Perplexed as to how this could be happening again, I went on the Itunes store and and looked up the reviews on the app- there weren't any. Then I clicked on the button for "see all versions" as the initial reviews are only for the most recent update to the app. THEY ARE ALMOST ALL 1 STAR. Essentially Pioneer has abandoned supporting the app and is 100% aware of the problem, but does nothing. High end custom install guys who can program the receiver a multitude of ways? No problem. Home user who paid $1500 for a receiver that advertised the ability to be set up online via an app? To configure all your devices? To use the Airplay function and recognize your wifi? On your own. I have owned 2 of these now. They cannot do these things. They are nightmares. The place where I bought it confirmed they have been coming back in droves. I'll be taking their advice and avoiding this brand in the future. The incremental updates Pioneer keeps making for the app are very small in data size- it is because they are not fixes but are designed solely to push down bad reviews. And yes- I tried it from multiple devices. Avoid this item and go with a Yamaha or Sony ES instead.

Amazing Reciever. The class D amp versus AB amps ...
Amazing Reciever. The class D amp versus AB amps like denon, Onkyo are a noticeable difference not to mention this amp runs tremendously cooler than an AB amp. Denons are just giant space heaters. So, this Reciever does up to 11.2 with an extra 2 ch amp. Has 3 HDMI Outs, is DTX:s and 2.0/2.2 complaint. The MCACC is amazing and prefer it over Audyssey any day. There have been some network connecting issues in the beginning, most fixed with firmware updates. But there's a massive thread on AVS forums for this amp. There's fixes for all the network issues there. This amp is powerful, very powerful and capable of driving 4ohm loads which denon and Onkyo or Yamaha can't say. Just another example of the fine class D amp. It will bring your speakers to life, more detail and warmth than any other Reciever at this price point. This entire system can be controlled on the ivp5 app. And it's amazing. Works flawlessly. The setup guide could use a makeover but by all means it's not bad at all. Plus once u set ur system how often do you go back into the setup screens? My guess is hardly ever. So don't let a setup menu deter u from the amazing sound this thing puts out. The app is very modern and quite easy to use. And works better than the ancient remote that this thing comes with. Obviously they focused more on the app than the remote. Which is fine by me. When compared side by side with other similar brands the elite line stands out like no other. It's just simply a beautiful Reciever. It's refined. The hdmi switching is decent, but read up on any of the major top players and hdmi issues is the going issue for all of them. This isn't build quality but rather difficult to engineer switching with all the formats and capabilities of hdmi. Then add switching sources, up converting, down sampling and everything else and u can see why it takes a second or two to switch sources. Anyway I definitely recommend this Reciever. You are buying this for the class D amp and sound, it delivers as promised in that area. As for user friendliness, it's average, not great, but definitely not bad either.
