and it has a great choice of songs
This is essential for any fan of 'Roxy Music". This is a concert in France, and it has a great choice of songs. You're at once amazed at their power and energy live, and also at how well they perform even the more sophisticated songs. You will love them even more after watching this, and Bryan is great in his white dinner jacket. They do a cover of John Lennon's 'A Jealous Guy" that is great! This is a high energy concert with a trio of backup singers dancing in unison just about the entire concert. I love it!

As concert videos go...
...this is a good one. The set list is interesting, including a Neil Young cover, and Bryan's underrated solo song, 'Can't Let Go', about his time in California. This was kind of a last hurrah for the band before they all went solo.

time in life
Roxy Music is great on the "High Road" music video, saw it in Amsterdam for the first time years ago at the old Hard Rock in 1990 or so. Now own the Roxy " Live at the Appollo" . Both are great, one when the band was young and one when they are much older. Both are great. Enjoy both; we can not be young forever ,except in our own memories. Great group and very under-appreciated. Steve ,, Georgetown ,TX

Before middle age caught up
Much prefer this to the later "Live at the Apollo", which was frantically edited and in which the band members were really showing their age.I like the idea of preserving the original lineup, but there's no comparison in the drumming of Newmark vs. Thompson; their discographies are very lopsided.

Please disregard all previous reviews
This as an utterly AWESOME music DVD in every way. The sound is superb, the performance is seamless, the camera-work and editing is totally professional. I like this DVD much more than the more highly-rated "Live at the Apollo". If I had to find any quibble, it would be that the tempo of "Love is the Drug" is a little brisk, but that's why we buy live recordings...to hear a different take. It is amazing that such a polished recording could possibly be achieved live....it's just staggering really.

"The High Road" A High Point
Just before they offically broke up, the group recorded this live video in Paris. Now on DVD, this concert marks the apex of Roxy Music's artistic ability. The live performances are not quite as polished as the tracks on their "albums", but deliver a drive that hooks you in. Here you can both see and hear songs from throughout the band's exsistance, culminating with a few songs from there then recent release "Avalon". The lead singer, Bryan Ferry, went on to record several excellent CDs that went kept moving in the direction that Avalon was moving. The final song on this DVD is a cover version of John Lennon's "Jealous Guy". It is FANTASTIC. There is a CD release of this concert entitled "Heart Still Beating", that contains most of the songs. If you are a fan of Roxy Music, you should get this DVD. You will definately like it.

"Wrong region" for my US player
Good concert --I've seen it before on VHS-- but I never saw this: I got "wrong region" message on my US player, though the product description said "All regions"

Avalon

Classic one off concert - and I was there for it at the Roman Arena in Frejus, south of France - August 1982.
Well I had to buy as I was there at the concert in a beautiful open air Roman Amphitheatre in T-shirt and shorts with my girlfriend on a warm night with breeze coming off the sea and a pack audience.King Crimson were the support act, but sadly don't feature on the DVD.DVD captures the essence of Roxy from the opening scenes to the firework exploding ending. Well worth buying.Andy Checketts, Worcestershire.

Recomendable para todo fan de Roxy Music o Brian Ferry
Me gusta mucho este concierto de Roxy Music. Se trata del Roxy Music mas ochentoso. Si bien es un video en Standard Definition, se ve bastante bien en un tv de 37"
