I am using this shelf in my two-year-old sons bedroom. I was nervous about it not having a back but it really hasn’t proved to be any sort of consideration at all. Every once in a while a small toy will fall off the back but no worries. We do have it pushed up against the wall and I like the way I can see my wall behind the bookshelf. My two-year-old is very proud of his shelf and likes to organize things on it. He is very particular like that! He has tried to climb it maybe once or twice but that hasn’t proven to be a large consideration either. My favorite thing about the shelf is how sturdy it is and how easy it was to put together. It’s beautiful and looks nice in his room!
