Great quality, light weight, but a little larger than I hoped
This flashlight is clearly made by a pistol manufacturer, with its weapons-grade fit and finish. I have absolutely no complaints about the construction of this flashlight. The white beam is plenty bright for my needs (hiking at night), and the beam is also well focused and perfectly circular, with no weird shadow artifacts like you get with most incandescent bulb flashlights. The red beam seems just as bright at the white, even with 7 less LEDs. Some people complained that the red light is too bright, which doesn't bother me, but I can see why it might bother some. You can actually toggle both the white and LEDs to be on at the same time, which looks neat, although I'm not sure how valuable that is. There is no button on the butt of the flashlight (like a combat-type flashlight would have), even though there's a bump on the back that may look like a button in the photos. The aluminum construction allows the flashlight to be fairly light-weight, and even though I use this for backpacking, I don't have any complaints about the weight. My only concern after holding this flashlight the first time was its size - it is significantly larger than I thought it would be after looking at the photos. It's almost 1.75" wide near the lens, and the tube is about 1.25" wide. Length is about 6.5". If I didn't know any better, I would guess that this flashlight housed 2 C batteries, not 3 AAA's. It also has a completely unnecessary gear-shaped ring around the body near the lens, which serves no purpose aside from aesthetics, and adds almost a quarter inch to the width of the flashlight. The holster is just as well-made as the flashlight! It's perfectly snug, specifically shaped for this exact flashlight. It has a dual function belt loop, which can either be used without velcro (to fix it securely to a belt) or a velcro flap which serves the same purpose, but allows you to fasten the holster without undoing your belt. There's also a side pouch perfectly sized for 3 extra AAA batteries.I give it 5 stars because it really is a spectacular flashlight for the price, however due to the size I am not sure I would have bought it if I saw it in person first. But now that I have it, I'm happy to keep it!

Terrific flashlight from Smith & Wesson
Smith & Wesson is primarily known for their guns but this is one solidly constructed light! I do a ton of research on any tactical/survival gear I buy and this was no exception. I am impressed. It's made from anodized aluminum and it feels rugged in your hands but somehow lightweight. This flashlight looks and feels great. It has a very firm and ergonomic fit and finish to it. I found it's very easy to switch buttons on and off while maintaining your control of the flashlight. No problems.I will say that if you are purely looking for a flashlight based on it's incredibly awesome powers of illumination or the ability to focus the light beam, than this flashlight will probably leave you wanting. It's bright but it's not a $200 flashlight and it is powered by AAA's after all. For the other 85% of us who want rugged, quality construction while still being lightweight with functional switches for white and red, long battery life, great lighting capability, run on AAA's, etc, etc....this is a great flashlight. Also, a nice feature is that it has a flat base. You can stand this flashlight up on the floor of your garage, kitchen or wherever. You can't do that with all flashlights especially ones that have the switch on the bottom. The red light is very cool and bright enough to see with. I had no issues with the buttons working. They work perfectly out of the box. You can control both switches independently and they click solidly.I compared this to the Smith & Wesson 28 LED Galaxy flashlight along with several other flashlight makers and settled on this one. The 28 LED Galaxy flashlight had a few more LED's and blue LED's along with red and white. But it is also bigger, weighs more, and churns through batteries quicker. I needed something that I can slip in my tactical/survival/camping bag while at the same time use it around the house if necessary. This fits the bill. Rugged, dependable, and very functional for a good price.

LED flashlight
Up front I am a big fan of LED lights, since my first one in 1999, lets say I have a few, this one the Smith & Wesson is the best of both worlds, what I mean by that is the white and red led's, the technology has come so far since '99, this light has 10 very powerful white led's but the red light from 3 led's is what I am talking about the advancement in light output from just 3 small led's.The housing is very impressive alum the two button switches is a vast improvement over the more simple single button to select either white or red, which makes one cycle through the light you may not want or need, I keep this model next to my bed, if I have to get up anytime at night, I reach for it, knowing the bottom push button is the 3 red leds, it's great not to grab your eyes when switching on a electric bulb and holding a hand over your eyes while finding your way down the hall, there is so much light out of those 3 red leds one can see anything in one way, great for outside at night to keep one "night vision" but also just a touch switch away for more white light just in case, a great light for people walking a dog, using the red light you have enough to see and the benefit of not blinding the dog when the dog looks up at the owner and gets a face full of white light.Powered by just 3 small "AAA" alkaline batteries, I am still on the first 3 I got with the unit ! it's been months of course that is the other benny of LED's very long battery life.It you want this kind of light with a choice of white or red, in a very well built unit, and the fit and finish was a surprise when I first opened it, and with a outstanding price, go for it.cj

Durable flashlight, kind of large.
Perfect for what I need. A little big. The belt attachment isn't holding up to well, but I beat it up quite a bit. The flashlight itself is durable, I've dropped it from heights multiple times and still does the job.

Night rating Pilot's!
Awesome for night rating pilots. Its not to bright nor to dull in the cabin. Won't use any other flashlight now. Also if you're doing a walk around at night, the white LED's are great for that.

Great Aviation Flashlight
This was a little bigger than I expected but very solid construction. The white lights are very bright and the red light is perfect to use and retain your night vision.

GOOD
Well what i like is the size in the hand and the hold. The red light is fantastic and usefull in multitude of situations that you need a light but not to attract attention. The led white- blue light gives a good field of a wide angle but don't expect longer range light for distance,
