Great book. Bought this after a master class that I went to with him. He’s a really nice guy and one of the best guitarists ever.

VERY Detailed
This is going to keep me busy for a long time! Steve Vai really lays out a detailed plan here, with several techniques to practice, and many exercises with TAB. Don't be fooled by the relatively small size of this book -- there may not be very many pages, but each page is jam packed with useful content. I think it will be better for Intermediate to Advanced guitarists, or a very determined beginner. I will probably never play like Steve, but I can still improve my skills.

Great training regiment for guitarists
Makes sense really, find the things that hold you back and make exercises out of them to train yourself to overcome them. Just that revelation alone can help a player greatly. This is a great system to get your mentality into a place where your working toward goals.

There Is Gold in This Book!
I am a huge Steve Vai fan, so I feel the need to grab everything he releases. I had read Steve's legendary 10-hour Guitar Workout and 30-hour Guitar Workouts when they were originally released (and re released) in Guitar World. When I saw that they were being released in a book I knew I had to have it in my guitar library. I would not recommend this book to beginning guitarists because some of the sections of the workout do not tell you specifically what to practice. So you may need to have a teacher to help you decide what exercises to do. For intermediate or advanced players who are used to structuring their own practice this book is a gold mine! My favorite parts are actually the mental aspects that Steve discusses near the end of the book. These are essential to becoming a true master of guitar. Like the Satriani Guitar Secrets book (I bought both at once), this is so reasonably priced that you should stop thinking about it and just buy it.

Good book for Steve Vai's Guitar methods for guitar workouts
Good book for Steve Vai's Guitar methods for guitar workouts, picking exercises, etc. Gives a guitarist structure to know how to refine guitar skills.

Excellent guitar book
This is a great book that gives you a lot of exercises to practice. Be prepared to spend a lot of time doing these exercises if you want to get the benefits this book can provide. The only thing that I think would be better is if there was a clearer explanation of how to plan out or schedule the 10 hour and 30 hour workouts. They are each labeled as such, but then the exercises and descriptions of how to do them are presented with no real idea of how to schedule your 10 or 30 hour workouts. Obviously you wouldn't do 30 hours straight, but since it is labeled as "30 hour" it would be nice to know if the 30 hours is intended to be done in as short a time as possible, or over the period of a few weeks.Otherwise, the book and the exercises within are highly recommended.

I have massive respect for Vai's discipline. It's fun to get inside his head a little bit with this book. It's not impossible stuff but it makes you feel awkward. Which is what I need. You can see how Vai has been able to articulate so well.

Great practice structure
I love the book and the methods it employs. While you may not follow the entire 10 or 30 hs practice routine, you can incorporate some great ideas to improve your technical skills and include them into your own personal practice sessions. The book arrived in perfect condition, timely. I highly recommend purchasing.

NO standard notation
Personal point, but very disappointed that the book was tablature only with no standard notation, especially from the publisher and featured artist. I remember this being published in Guitar World magazine many years ago and don't understand why this is not of the same quality.

It's not fun. But the workouts do you good
I guess most of us have seen many of these exercises in the same or slightly different fashion before, but in the same sense as the Vaideologi book, they are here with context and purpose. Also - if you know that Steve himself workout like this, then it must be good! 10 minutes per day with this book, and a metronome, will make you a better player. At least, it worked for me.
