HP 27sv 27-Inch LED Monitor

I got 2 of these monitors for a new computer system I was setting up. Originally I chose the HP Pavilion 27XW monitor because I like the look of the base better. Ended up having to return it as the base would not mount properly and HP wouldn't simply replace the base - they wanted to replace the complete monitor, ship back the defective one - a hassle and a lot of extra time. So I just returned the defective one and got this model instead. Quick and easy setup, good price, great resolution and crispness of display and contrast. Makes it easy to use dual monitors as this model has VGA, HDMI, and DVI-D connections (can't use DVI-I, though) so there is a choice of ways to connect to any computer. Since the frames are so small on these monitors, it makes it easy to use dual monitors and set them close together for a really extended desktop. The monitor speakers must be connected through a separate audio cable regardless of whether the video connection is by VGA, DVI, or HDMI. Note that the MAXIMUM RESOLUTION on this monitor is 1920 x 1080.

Item came, wrong model. I ordered a 27sv (which is on the invoice) but rec'd a 27er. As unhappy as I was about this, I was willing to overlook this obvious issue. But it simply doesn't work. It's plugged in, and no indicator light. Tried with multiple power sources and more than one computer. I'm a creative director with a large home office with many screens, so I know this is not a troubleshooting issue. I started a return process and I chose "same exact product" but accident instead of "refund" so I need to know this is being handled properly. I don't want yet another 27er showing up at my door. I purchased two to upgrade the size of my dual-monitor workspace from 24" screens to 27". They are very thin screens, lightweight, and the bases are plenty sturdy. The top edge and both sides of the display are extremely thin. Sitting side-by-side, it makes for a nearly seamless combination.This monitor does have a matte screen finish. Now that I have it, I absolutely love it over a glossy finish. Glare and reflection is cut to an absolutely bare minimum.

The image is not what I was expecting as the screen is dim and the black doesn't appear to be very true. Even after adjustment and several calibrations, nothing has improved, I plan on returning. One need not look further than the TERRIBLE onboard menu for setup.

I was looking primarily for a larger monitor for my desktop computer in my office. I believe this is the perfect size, anything larger would be too much. HP quality is always dependable and I was very pleased with the affordability. Delivery and packaging was what you have come to expect from Amazon. Overall an excellent experience.

I wanted a larger monitor but I didn't want to pay for a 1440p monitor. Plus the higher resolution monitors will cause games to run slower so I wanted a more immersive experience for gaming which this monitor does pretty well. At first I was going to return this monitor to Amazon because I thought it was giving me headaches due to the PWM flicker it has. However, I tried out my old monitor and was still getting headaches so yeah I was probably sick or something.Pro:Large display with matte screen for no reflections.Good colors, though I can't get a good comparison to other monitors since my old Samsung monitor has a strange yellow tint which I can't really get rid of.Fairly minimal light bleed, I have a small amount of bleeding on the lower left side of mine but compared to other monitors I've seen it is not too bad.Nice thin bezel design for a good clean look.Cons:1080p on 27 inches looks blurry sometimes but that issue will effect all monitor brands. However, I'm okay with it since I'm too cheap to get a 1440p monitor and a better GPU.There might be some ghosting on my monitor but I'm not sure. Certain movies and games seem to have blur which I can't really figure out if that is the monitor or just me since I sometimes see that blur on my old monitor which has a lower response time.The LED backlights use PWM to control the brightness. If you are sensitive to PWM flicker then this monitor will probably give you a headache. I keep my monitor on full brightness so I don't get the flicker, though I'm not really sure if I'm sensitive to the PWM flicker though.Speakers are totally worthless. Would have been better if they didn't add any speakers to make the screen even thinner and probably lowered the cost a little.

I have two offices. I have two of these monitors connected in series in each office which allows me to have several browsers open at the same time. Works great, great price, fast shipping.

I looked & looked this has been a good buy! The only thing I needed to do out of the box was plug it in.
