Subvert your expectations and enjoy the ride
I just finished watching the finale of Game of Thrones season 8, and I can honestly say that I was fine with the ending to an incredible series. The Blu-Ray edition is absolutely stunning, with crystal clear picture and sound quality that brings all the epic battles and dramatic scenes to life. The special features are also great, with behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the cast and crew that give a great insight into the show. I highly recommend this Blu-Ray set for any fan of the show, as it will provide hours of entertainment.

Much Better Than I Expected
Based on the reactions of my friends and the Interwebs as a whole, I expected this final season to be a total disaster. And I will say that the third episode of the final season was at least 30 minutes longer than it needed to be. At one point during the horribly directed and filmed war for Winterfell against the dead, I seriously wondered if I had been watching the episode for three days or for four, because God knows it felt like forever. I kept thinking, "get to the point, we all know how this is going to end", and it just kept going and going and going and going and going. And while the person responsible for the ending came as a surprise, it made no logical sense whatsoever. Episode 3 was just horrible through and through, and the fact that a couple of secondary characters suffer while all the headliners magically make it through virtually unscathed was irritating to say the least. But once we got back to the real story, I very much enjoyed it. Prior to watching the final season for the first time, I started with the first series and watched every episode over a period of 10 days. And the ending fit in exactly with everything that led up to it. I won't go into spoiler alerts, but it all ended the way it was always set up to end. In fact, if I have any complaints (beyond that horrible, horrible episode three), it would be that it all fit too neatly into place. It would have been nice to have a few final twists, as the show was built on that, but it is what it is.All in all, I'm extremely surprised that so many people were upset by the ending. I thought it was easily one of the better ones for a series.

NO SPOILERS, just as good as all the rest of the seasons!
First off let me say i hate that this series has ended. This series has had more substance and superb acting than i have ever seen, and amazing special effects throughout. Did it all end the way i would have wanted, not at all, but it had to end so the writers ended it the way they thought best, so all these people writing negative reviews need to just take a breath and get over it, they are probably just disappointed its over just like me but that doesn’t mean that this last season wasn’t just as good as all the rest of the seasons! The acting was great, there were the same little jaw dropping moments as in all the rest of the seasons and it had a good closure ending. The only real bad thing i can say about this season is episode 3, it was probably the worst episode of the entire 8 seasons, it was almost completely consumed with fighting and alot of it was dark and hard to follow what was going on. Other than that 1 episode my wife and i enjoyed everything about this season. I will kinda compare it to the breaking bad series ending, i didnt really like how they ended it, but it had to end, so I’m not gonna say the whole last season was bad just because it didnt end the way i wanted it to. Please don’t listen to all the negative reviews, because i read them before i bought it and was expecting the worst and instead i was just as entertained as with all the other seasons, GOT is the best series ever made!!

A good show, but I wouldn't say the ending was "satisfying."
In particular, Jon's behavior at the end is inconsistent with his character development and story arc. Rather than give the benefit of the doubt, he presumed the worst, and apparently manipulated by Tyrion with little contemplation. Was he acting on impulse? Not clear, but that wouldn't fit his character very well either. And Jon said he didn't want to be King multiple times, but he never told us what he DID want to do. Though he was honorable to a fault, and contemplative at least. But he turned out to find himself incapable of effecting change except in the crudest way, when he was clearly in the best position to do otherwise. I'd also have to say though, that the ending was predictable, I figured that was where it was going, and given the show liked to kill off sympathetic or would be sympathetic characters, it was no surprise. Suddenly the world has gone tranquil after yet another act of violence. A shame, but up until the weak ending, it was an engrossing series. But the last season did seem rushed, as others have said.

Not the best season of GoT but these 1 star reviews are pathetic.
I think too many people forgot that GoT does not (usually) cater to favorite characters and there was never going to be a fairytale ending.-Pros- In my opinion, the show wrapped up with all the characters being exactly where they should be. The acting might not have been as strong as previous, but was good enough for actors who were obviously fatigued with the show. CG in the battles was amazing as usual. The story, dark and had enough twists and turns to keep me surprised.-Cons- There were some slow parts and pacing that the season could have used to better effect. Also there were some parts of the plot that could have been scripted better, but they were minor points that for me and not detract from the overall story. Yes, there was a coffee cup and a water bottle in the aired versions, but they have been digitally scrubbed on the dvd/bluray so... its kinda silly to gripe about. In conclusion I'm very glad I did not get swayed by unhappy fans bombing this season. I get that they might not be pleased but 1 star reviews are just overreactions. Just the great visuals, sets and good actors alone should merit a higher score even if you disagree with the story or disliked some of the writing. For me though this was a solid ending to what has been my favorite show (and books) of the last decade. So if you haven't seen this season and are on the fence because of the review bombs, do yourself a favor and give it a shot.4 out 5

What did you expect?
It has arrived. I will try to keep this short... This review will not be about the TV series itself but rather the DVD case. I did not buy season 8 to watch. I don't even own a DVD player! I, like almost everyone else, use streaming services to watch TV. I bought this case for the same reason I bought Season 1-7. I bought it to support the show and for the collectible aspect. From season 1 to 5 I was nothing but impressed! The artwork was fantastic the styles were creative and most importantly the sizes were consistent. Season 3 box and 5 remain some of the most eye catching and beautiful DVD boxes I own. Starting after season 5 all of the boxes including this one were lacking in art and creativity, but what upset me the most was each DVD Box was no longer the same size as the last. So... when stacked together as a collection 1-5 are all the same thickness while 6-8 vary in size maybe i'm being a little OCD but this still bugs me. This final season is the culmination of so many years of work and the end of this epic story (Love it or Hate it). I was hoping that this DVD box would be on the same level of quality as 1-5 but unfortunately they settled for generic design and artwork. At the end of the day it is just a TV show but the truth is for so many this TV show did mean a lot more. I only wish they listed to the fans.P.SI'm Sure in one year we can bet on mass produced and redesigned box sets from 1-8 all the same size to milk the last bit of money out of this series and its fans.

The Ending is Realistic
*** SPOILERS *** if you haven't watched it yet, don't read. Of course this is just my opinion only. The last season of GOT was jarring. Gone are all of the colorful scenes - fantastic colors in the gardens, clothing, furnishings, etc. Season 8 is dark and dreary - took me a bit to get used to it, but it's up north and how it should be. Did it have a happy ending? No. Most wars never do, so GOT was rather realistic in that area. I was sorry to see Daenerys die, but she was too dangerous to keep around. She definitely stopped being that 'caring person of the people' person. Can't keep her in jail for the rest of her life, can't set her free as she would never give up. Cersie - she did everything she possibly could to stay a ruler but it just didn't work. She and Jamie realized it at the end and knew there was just nothing else except death. So they stood there and took it. With her personality, I think it was do or die. Then the war is over and suddenly everything just seems quiet. So people tend not to know where to go next for a few seconds. Big change of pace for this series. Then they get back to business of voting in a new ruler and try to clean up the devastation. So yes, a lot of people hated season 8, hard to go from a fast paced colorful adventure, to a cold barren north country with everyone sitting around in their furs drinking Tim Hortons coffee. I can see why a lot of people hated it. For me, it was more on the realistic side (maybe some think since this was a fantasy, we should have had a happy fantasy ending), even though it was fantasy. I did think some scenes were way too dark, why does everything have to happen at night? The King of the Dead had no problem being in the daylight. I've only watched season 8 once, and that was when it was airing on TV so maybe my views will change a bit when I watch it again. Otherwise, GOT was FANTASTIC!!! Freaking GREAT series!!! I am very gratful it was made.

Deshalb verschwendetes Geld. Kauft euch die BlueRay.

3 stars for damaged box but 5 for the Final Season
I waited months for this final Season to come out and was very disappointed with the box that I Recieved. It was clearly dropped before arrival to me as the corner of the box is damaged and upon opening it the first disc in the set was floating around loose as the plastic tab that was suppose to hold it was broken. I don't know if this was done at factory level or at the Amazon warehouse but either way I was disappointed. Now the 3 stars was for the damaged goods. I give the final season a very sad 5 star goodbye to a Great and Wonderful experience for the last 7 years. But on a high note... I own all 8 seasons so I can re-indulge when ever I like.Damaged season is going back though... Very disappointed with having to do that though. :(
