The Diwan of Shaykh Muhammad ibn al-Habib: The Wird and the Qasidas

Excellent version of the Diwan.

Sheikh ibn Habib's diwan is enough of a testimony to his tremendous state. His diwan will leave you in awe, drawing you to increased love of Allah and His Messenger, upon whom is the peace and blessings of Allah, His angels, and the believers. The problem with an all English translation is that the qasaid (i.e. spiritual poetry) cannot be sung to the meters they were intended for, which is the purpose for which they are used for. However, for someone interested in gaining insight into the Shadhili-Darqawi trariqa spiritual tasting derived from its Moroccan roots, you would be hard pressed to find someone's diwan surpassing that of Ibn Habib, may Allah have mercy upon him.

A collection of diwan from one of the most important Sufis of the modern age. Such a pity however, that the original Arabic text is missing and you have to buy it separately (now is that necessary?) especially as it is almost the same price as the English diwan.Still, well translated and an important book especially in the study of African Sufism.
