If you aren't handy with tools? Avoid. If you aren't used to assembling items that don't go together with 'Tab A-Slot B' ease? Avoid. If you don't know how to look for small parts in packaging and tend to just toss stuff? Avoid. If you can't improvise when putting something together? Avoid.That said? As the brits say, it does what it says on the tin, and does it quite well. The instructions reference a few parts that aren't there (shims for the cart wheels) and don't seem as though the parts should be. I'm guessing this was a design change and the manual wasn't updated to reflect that. Assembly didn't take long and wasn't terribly hard, but getting the bolts into the storage box from the 'cart' stand was a right pain in the butt as it must be done blind and required a bit of moving things back and forth to find the bolt hole by feel. If done upside down (upending the storage box, and attaching the frame rails BEFORE bolting them together and putting the wheels on) this MIGHT be easier, but I do things the hard way. :) The kettle can also be a bit difficult to hang. DON'T FORCE IT! If your kettle doesn't swing freely? You didn't get it on the hooks properly. The kettle 'ears' rest on the two hooks and should swing freely. It's very easy to miss the 'ears'. The stirrer in the kettle is VERY loose but this appears to be by design, so as to not bind when shoving popped kernels about. It looked flimsy but works well. We'll see how it holds up.In operation the popper heats quickly and does a very good job. The 'bottom warmer' means the popper has a heated deck/floor that's on when the light is on. BE MINDFUL OF THIS! IF you touch the floor while the light is on you WILL get burned. I did. :) But it keeps the popcorn quite fresh.Overall if I had it to do over again I'd probably have bought a Paragon or Gold Medal as I'm not sure this is going to last. But, I'll use it 'till it breaks and toss it when it does if I can't get parts. For occasional home theater use or those that don't want to spend the extra money? It should be perfect, and it DOES cost less than half. :D

The Black Popcorn Maker Machine Elite by Maxi-Matic - 8oz Trolley with Popper and Cart popper is a decent reproduction of a classic design that looks as though Henry Ford painted it. This one shows-off more quality than the price should allow. It is everything represented in the description. I was pleasantly surprised that the metallurgy of the screw-together parts is up to snuff. Every part arrived undamaged. It all went together easily enough; have a 14mm socket and vice-grips ready as those make the job go smoother. Be alert (during assembly only) for some sharp edges on the shelf and push bar.So far, we have been cooking Great Northern yellow in coconut oil (24-ct case). The results are excellent. One thing to be sure to do is SWITCH-OFF the kettle heat as you hear the popping noticeably slowing. This should prevent any inner-pan scorching from happening as the kettle will stay hot enough to finish the job. Let the kettle cool before handling any part but the red handle or you will get blistered. The compartment below the popper stays about as cool as room temp and has enough storage room for a case of corn packets with room to spare. The shelf opposite the push bar has room for 8 shakers/bottles of whatever seasoning you like. If you buy one of these, be green and get yourself some of those washable theater-style plastic buckets. Look just like the paper ones except they're reusable. The buckets store conveniently upside down on top of the popper.This popper adds something to our projection room aside from it's looks. The aroma it produces is so Mmmmmmmmm. It makes the room smell like a place where you want to kick back and watch that movie or ballgame or concert. Plus, the price I paid for this popper was a fair bargain. If you've shopped around for one of these IN BLACK you know that there are very similar 8oz popper carts online that go for quite a few more $$$.Recommend.

Hi every one,I wanted too put my two cents into this review. We have had this machine for about three weeks and so far so good. I must say that at first I was intimidated by the popcorn machine because the size, is huge to say the least, I even wondered if I bit off more that I could chew.Well were chewing and loving it ! Were a family of two single mom one kid and we put it together oursleves well he went camping and I did it. However we did unpack it ourselves and it was packaged very well and came around the time that it was expected to come. We popped a batch which was a little more kernals than popped but that was our error, since then we have gotten the hang of it and have had few kernals if any. Pops great and we enjoy our Movie night.I would suggest getting this machine because as a family of two were enjoying it and we even have plans to sell popcorn in the summer months plus volunteer to make popcorn at different events were we live to suppor the Cub Scouts. Everything we needed was included in the box and at the moment I dont have anything negative to say. I will keep you updated if it changes but Im not expecting that to happen the other reviews were great and that was a motivation for me to purchase this machine since I had been looking since last year christmas. I think it's true that it works well for large groups and family settings.Enjoy ! oh plus this was the best price machine, looks great and inpressive plus the pot comes out to be washed when needed and I had no trouble with that.
