Accurate and cost effective!
I have a One Touch Ultra 2 meter and have been using these test strips for about a month.I hesitated to buy them after reading some of the reviews but each test strip has worked perfectly with no error codes. These have been a godsend, considering I would have paid over $200 through my health insurance .

As accurate as OneTouch Ultra strips, just a lot cheaper
Just discovered GenUltimate test strips. I've been using the OneTouch Ultra meters since they first came on the market with OT Ultra strips. In my experience, those tend to be accurate in the +/- 5-10 percent range. Having had Type 1 diabetes for decades, I've discovered, then read about, how the test is done is the major variable. For example, after pricking your finger and producing a drop of blood, the time that drop is exposed to the oxygen in the air until put on the test strip will affect the meter reading. My first order of GenUltimate strips just arrived. Expiration date is 20 months from now. The big change is each vial of strips may have a different code. Some people who report inaccurate readings may have forgotten to change the code on their meter when switching from OneTouch strips (which for the last several years has always been code 25) to GenUltimate strips. People sometimes may also have hand lotions or other coatings on the skin that can affect blood glucose tests.I did several tests with OneTouch Ultra strips, using a new finger prick and new drop of blood each time, exposing the drop to air for about 5 seconds from prick to strip. The OneTouch strips yielded results that were all about +/- 5%, one was +7%. That is not too bad -- my target is 100, so if it reads 93 or if it reads 107, I am unlikely to change my fast-acting dose or what I'm planning to eat.I then did several tests with GenUltimate strips. Again, I got the drop of blood to the strip in about 5 seconds, and I did a new finger prick for each test. I had not only similar margins of error in the 5-7% plus or minus range, but the average of the GenUltimate tests was remarkably close the average of the OneTouch tests. Of course, I used the same meter for both sets of tests. Ideally, I'd have liked to do several hundred tests, but I really can't afford to ;<)So I am confident these strips are as accurate as the original OneTouch strips, and the main difference is the much lower price for the GenUltimate test strips.PS comparing home meters to test lab results is tricky. My Endocrinologist points out they use a different test method and will typically be somewhat different from home meter tests. The goal is to have consistent testing, make consistent decisions regarding insulin and food, check A1C periodically and if your A1C satisfies your doctor, keep doing what you are doing. In my case, I'll be doing that with GenUltimate strips.

GREAT PRODUCT!!!
This product gave me the edge I needed to have to not give up doing my bloodwork, while my pharmacy & insurance company argued about whether I was eligible or not for my glucose strips. By the way, I was eligible & did get them from my insurance after 2 weeks of talking to line staff, I asked for a supervisor who couldn't understand why they didn't give them to me. In the meantime, you gave me an affordable way to stay on track with my blood sugars. So, you are a SUPERSTAR in my opinion.

Good test strips for the price, they seem consistent and accurate.
About as accurate as the name brand strips. There are a few things to keep in mind when evaluating test strips (world according to me, I could be wrong, consult your health care professional, etc.).The main one is that all test strips and home meters only have to be accurate within about 20% of a lab test to be approved. That means that a reading of 100 on basically any meter could in actuality be anything from 80-120! Now, in reality I think most modern meters tend to be very accurate, more so than the requirement, or at least consistent. Also, when comparing home test results to lab results realize that lab tests are plasma based where home meter tests are whole blood based. Most modern meters, and I THINK all OneTouch are configured to adjust the whole blood reading to more closely match a plasma reading (I know my OneTouch UltraMini is, I called them and asked). This is done by a simple calculation within the meter to raise the whole blood result by about 12%.Ultimately you can do a few tests back to back in the same spot, same meter, same brand of strips, even with the same blood sample, and get variations in your reading. I know, I've done it several times just to see.My own experience doing multiple tests with these generic test strips vs. the blue strips is that they tend to run about 10% LOWER than my ultra blue test strips. For each test, the meter was set to the appropriate strip code (in my case 13 for the genstrips and 25 for the blue).Blue: 105Genstrip: 92Genstrip: 94Blue: 104Genstrip: 113Blue: 129And so on. All of these are well within what I find acceptable for variance. I intend to always be sure to have some of the blue strips around so I can do another comparison when I open the next vial of the genstrips, just to try to confirm whether the variance is consistent. I've never actually done a comparison from vial to vial on the blue strips; though. It may reveal that from batch to batch they can have variance too and I'd not be very surprised. I'll have to try that.Anyway, I like that there are less expensive generic strips available. Personally, I am using them primarily to do spot-check studies of my blood glucose that would require more strips per month than my insurance is willing to pay for. For example, plotting the curve of when my fast acting insulin peaks and declines by plotting my blood sugar every 15 minutes for several hours after an injection. Yeah, that kind of sucks but it's the kind of thing that is nice to know too. The same with a given food or activity (does my morning coffee raise my blood sugar, independent of other factors, etc.). How much does 1 unit of insulin lower my blood sugar, independent of other factors? For these purposes, these generic test strips are great. All in all if I didn't have health insurance to pay for the name-brand strips I'd probably be willing to use these exclusively.

What an awesome product...!!
Kudos to people who make this product...many thanks to them for their awesome work. I love my mini one touch ultra testing machine but because one touch ultra testing strips are so expensive i was using the cheaper machine and testing strips which are not as good as one touch ultra until i heard about this product and decided to order it which I am glad i did because it works great with my one touch ultra and is as good if not better testing strips than one touch ultra. I can now test my blood sugar level several times a day without putting a big hole in my pocket...so again kudos to people who make this product and many thanks to them for their great efforts ! just remember to code your machine when you receive this product otherwise it will not work for you . Mine was 04 so make sure to check and program your code. Thanks.
