Very good and necessary tool
Pretty much anyone who does any sort of woodwork at all needs a random orbit sander. There are, however, many different brands and features to choose from. I settled on this Bosch unit because of the features. And also because the Bosch brand is clearly very competitive.Because I use this sander mostly for furniture, I wanted a 6" pad size as that should be easier to keep flat than a 5" size. The 6" units are more expensive and heavier than the 5", but not by much.Another feature worth having is the use of hook and loop sanding disks. I spent a lot of years in body shops where we used spray adhesive, glue and self-stick disks. What a mess. Horrible. And I used these sanders at home for my wood projects. Believe me, the hook and loop, velcro-like, units are much better and are so easy to use that you are more likely to use the correct sanding pad rather than to just use whatever is on there.I also wanted good dust control via a vacuum system. This tool is easy to hook up to a 1 1/4 hose with the appropriate Bosch adapter. My dust control system is set up so that the vacuum activates when the Bosch is turned on. Air is sucked through the holes in the sanding disks (I have been using the Mirka brand), through the pad and out the back port where the filter was. That self-contained filter comes right off to expose the suction port for the vac. I have no experience with the supplied filter, so cannot comment on it. I can say that there is almost no dust at all with the vac system and that sanding is actually easier because the vacuum sucks the sander to the board and you do not have to press down so hard. Still, you should use a dust mask. The 3727DEVS does have that variable speed feature as well as a lock switch so you don't have to work the trigger full time. This all works well. There is no such thing as fun sanding, but this is very quiet and pleasant to use.I did have one problem that seems to be fairly common to this and other brands in that the screw that holds the pad on can loosen. I noticed some funky sounds and vibration, shut it down and tightened the screw. That was many weeks of work ago and it has not happened again. It is suggested that you just keep an eye on that. They do not give away Mirka quality sandpaper disks. $25+ per box and you need several different grits. So, you might plan on spending another $100 right away to stock up on that.I use mine on furniture projects and have been pleased with the results. Sometimes I think that the very final sanding should be done by a straight-line pad sander, but so far I have not been forced to buy one of those. Recommended.

Excellent sander that works better than expected.
I bought this sander along with some Norton sanding disks and have been pleasantly surprised by the results. The sander works exceptionally well - it has enough power at full speed to quickly and effectively sand whatever you happen to be working on. Whether it is wood, or auto body repair, paint stripping, etc.The unit is a bit on the heavy side, so you may want to get the smaller Bosch sander if you need to sand vertical surfaces for long periods. This sander works best horizontally. It may also be too big for finishing the insides of cabinets and such, but that is why they offer smaller sanders. This is a great general-purpose unit and if you are just going to buy one, this is the one to get.The dust collection feature of this sander works VERY well. You DO NOT need to attach a vacuum dust collector because the included collection bag will actually suck up like 95% of the dust generated by sanding. You can then use a vacuum to clean out the bag attachment when you're done. The benefit here is that you don't need to deal with having a cumbersome hose attached while you are sanding and you get dust-free performance. I would still recommend wearing a dust mask.Looking for a great all-purpose sander that is tough enough for professional work? This is your ticket right here, and the price is great.

Great performance
Never owned a random orbiter sander before but based on other reviews of orbiter sanders I chose this model. I purchased this model to sand 22 wood roof beams, each 4" X 10" X 12 feet. I used 40 grit sand paper to remove a layer of brown paint to get to bare wood. The project was successful with a lot of hard work. The Bosch 6" held up great, very reliable, consistent, easy to operate. The dust catcher worked well capturing what it could of dust particles, I had to remove the catcher each day, remove the lid and vacuum dust up the filter and container. The filter still works great, no cracks and still fits tight. I had to purchase two pads for the sander, reason being I at times pressed down too hard to remove the paint, the pads go too hot and essentially melted the hook & lock feature on the pads. The manufacturer and seller discussed my problem and I was told to reduce the speed a bit to avoid over heating the pads, and it worked. I had to get my 6" discs from an outlet that specializes in hardware only. I have shopped at Lowe's and Home Depot and they don't carry hook and lock 6" discs, only 5" discs they carry. It may be 6" sanders are not as popular now. The Bosch 6" is a precision, high quality, smooth running sander, I recommend it highly.

I’m converted - it’s well worth the investment!
I struggled long and hard before dropping a considerable amount on this thing... it’s an RO sander - how much better can it be than a sub-$100 one from the big box stores? I couldn’t justify the 6” version (I have thousands of 5” discs already in my shop!) Well... it’s a BEAST, and I’m converted. The tiny dust collection box fills quickly, because this thing removes material... so plug it into a Dust collector/vac. Awesome piece of equipment.

Well designed and quality product - very happy with it.
I built a deck and a few other projects during COVID lockdown so I needed something more than what I already owned. I used this sander a lot, I love it. Was not hard to use, ergonomically speaking and made the jobs I used it for go very smoothly (pun intended). I found it to be a little more expensive than some of the other options but I think it was worth it in the end. Definitely recommend this unit and would buy it again.

Best random orbital sander for the money.
This is my second unit, my first one has bee going for 10 years and still going strong. I often now have help in the shop so having a second unit made sense. The 6" version is really better for the furniture work that I do. These are real workhorses and worth the investment.
