When a North Korean nuclear missile test misfires, one of America's elite attack subs, the USS Lansing, gets caught in the wake. The blast knocks out all of the sub's communication, leaving the crew paranoid that an all-out war is taking place above the surface. When the captain (Casper Van Dien) isn't convinced and demands more proof, the second in command convinces the crew to declare mutiny and proceeds to ready the ship for a nuclear attack. At the US Navel Submarine Command, Admiral Justice (Gerald McRaney) sends a destroyer sub to investigate the Lansing's fate. When the destroyer reports the Lansing's silo doors are open and ready to fire, the destroyer is ordered to fire on the Lansing. After the first torpedo blast rattles the Lansing's hull, the captain and a few loyal crewmembers realize they must retake command of the sub before the reckless second in command obliterates an innocent country.

Very Solid Movie
This was defiantly in competition With the movie Crimson Tide. Both movies was a spin of a real incident. The missile control officer is named Webbs in both movies is an example of how the movies competed. I would give both movies a 4 star. This movie had some things with a completely different outcome so it will keep you interested. I think I liked this version better because there was not big name stars but very good acting. That made it more realistic to me. If you liked Crimson tide you really want to watch this one. Really good movie over all.

Unoriginal, Inaccurate
There are so many things wrong with this movie that I don't even know where to begin. First, the most obvious. This film is basically a knock off of Crimson Tide. A cheap one at that. Acting quality is sub-par by any standards. Production value is o.k., but there re so many inaccuracies concerning how nukes and the chain of command work that it's impossible to take the plot seriously.I've seen pretty much every submarine movie made and I would have to give this film a grade of D when it comes to realism and accuracy. Whoever wrote the script seemed to have no knowledge of how submarines or the Navy actually work. You would think that the producers could spend a few thousand bucks to run the script by someone who has actually served on a sub and advise them of the many problems with it. I do not see anything in the credits indicating that they did so though. That explains a lot.

Acceptable
As submarine movies go this is not in the same category as Red October but it is an acceptable level.

Good suspense & a joy to watch
Not perfect but I enjoyed watching it. That's all I care about.

Enjoyable watch.
Those expecting good writing, should look for a movie that Casper Van Diem is not in. Expecting less, I was happy to find the action was enjoyable.

It has a submarine
Bad movie, corny acting, the so called XO mispronounces "submariner".That being said, it has a submarine in it. Sort of a get drunk on Friday night and watch it kind of movie.

Very poor submarine story
This is a poorly conceived storyline; unbelievable exposure to radiation by Captain and EXEC and more. After Caption shots EXEC, he stands around with a grin and casually throws a key to LT to shut down nuclear missiles with seconds to go. It's like he knew the plot and it would end well. Hell, he had 17 seconds before launch.

Video
I bought the video because Channel 5 put the movie on in the afternoon and therefore had to cut the "violent" scenes [no knives can be shown before 1800]. It was well-directed and acted, the action taking place on a real, Canadian navy submarine. The production staff played members of the crew.
