The first comprehensive Rhino two-disc anthology highlighting The Monkees' overall career, including all the '60s hits and dozens of key album tracks up through the "Justus" album. Containing no unreleased material, this is the ideal package for the new Monkee fan, or for the fan who wants more than the Greatest Hits material but isn't up to buying all the original albums.

Love the Monkees
I was an infant when the Monkees came into existance. It wasn't until WTBS started running the show at 3:30 PM, in '75, (just as I was coming home from school) that they entered my universe. They were my first boy band crush. Even though, my favorite, Mickey, was four months older than my mom, it didn't matter. To see the cool guys having fun and making the sweetest music was just fascinating. Loved it! When I found the Anthology collection several years ago I immediately purchased it. Some time later, I lost the CD. So I decided to try to buy it again and luckily Amazon had what I wanted. This is the definitive Monkee Collection. If you love the Monkees, as I do, this is the CD to have. Recently, the CD was playing in the car and my favorite song, "I'm a Believer" started up. My 15 year old was shocked and said that he didn't know that "I'm a Believer" was a Monkee song. He had heard that horrid version of the song on the Shrek soundtrack. I told him that the original was the best and he agreed. Just today, I listened to "Valerie" and tears came to my eyes, for Davy Jones. The Monkees were apart of my childhood and this CD brings back wonderful memories.

Must have for Monkee fans.
When I was a kid, we waited for summers to watch The Monkees every day. We were fortunate to see the reunion tour in the 90's. One of the best concerts we've ever seen. Everyone on the hill at Pine Knob singing along to all the tunes, in the rain no less. The 2-disc collectin has all their hits and some lesser known classics. Family friendly music to listen to in the car. My kids love it too. Nostalga for a simpler time.

The Monkees Anthology
What can I say? I love The Monkees. I grew up watching their show in the 60's, and their music still is just as magical as it was when I first listened to it. They are fabulous performers and really put out great music. I recommend this to anyone who loves their music as much as I do to add to your collection.

Monkees Anthology
This is a fantastic compilation of Monkees songs. Has the best of the best, and some unknown sounds too. Being a huge fan I was happy to find all my favorites and now some new favorites. Love this. I say The Monkees are Grossly Underrated. People should give this one a try to get a feel for their true Talent. Lots of fun.

great best of CD
All the great songs from the show I remember. They were a great group. Saw them in concert a couple times and it was great. This album covers all their great hits and even the ones that are great but didn't make it as big.

Monkee business
The only criticisms a fan could have of THE MONKEES ANTHOLOGY are that Mike Nesmith's only Top 40 single, "Tapioca Tundra" is missing, and monaural mixes are used on some of their best tracks. Regardless, this RHINO product is a fine set of fifty still engaging songs. The Monkees' music holds up far better a half century later than that of many "legitimate" rock band contemporaries of theirs. Tunes like "A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You," "Pleasant Valley Sunday" and "Last Train To Clarksville" were top quality and deserved the fame they achieved. Yes it's true that they turned out cutsie tunes like "Cuddly Toy," but these guys also tackled the day's serious issues, such as war ("Zor And Zam"). But quite often, their music dealt with all aspects of love. So for every "I'm A Believer" and "Valleri," they have "I Wanna Be Free" and "I'm Not Your Stepping Stone" as counterpoint. The most fascinating thing about the Monkees is they were a fictionally-conceived rock band that evolved rapidly into a real one. Surely no one involved ever thought this might happen, and the fact that it did is a lasting tribute to the four band members and the many other talented folks working with them behind the scenes. Naysayers can never refute this: between 1966 and '68, NO other American rock group was as popular or sold more records than Mike, Peter, Davey and Mickey. So there!Package design-- a solidly-made box has a 3-D group portrait on the cover, and all the Monkee album covers in miniature behind the two CDs. The accompanying 32-page booklet includes a well-written history, track commentary, personnel, recording dates and chart positions. Sprinkled throughout are color repros of teen magazine covers and vintage Monkee-related merchandise. Highest recommendation.TOTAL RUNNING TIMES --DISC ONE -- 62:37DISC TWO -- 77:04
