AM/FM Shower radio

GREAT LITTLE SHOWER RADIO.
I wasn't looking for anything fancy, just a plain & simple radio that could be hung in the shower. I must admit that I don't listen to it for the most part, but it was for my husband. He turns it on EVERY time he showers so it is his feedback that I will post. This is better than the last one he had because the last one hung by a cord so it best fit right over the shower head. Although they are "splatter resistant", etc., my guess would be that the furthest away it can be from the spray of the shower head, the better. With this one, we hung it over the towel bar at the inside, back of the shower stall. And, because the "hook" swivels, we could also partially point it towards the shower door, even better protecting it from water. The battery compartment on our previous radio must have gotten damp or wet because it rusted and that's how it broke. With this one, it appears that the battery compartment is pretty sealed as it seems to be very tight and secure when it is closed. The sound is very ample. It is never played at full volume. Others have complained that it is difficult to move the knobs. That is very true. But, in my opinion, maybe that is also a feature that makes the unit even more water resistant. And, if it really irritates you, someone did post that you can pull off the knob and spray WD-40 on it and then replace the knob. I have not done that so it is NOT a recommendation I am making, just passing one on. For us this is no problem because, as I said, my husband is the one who listens to the radio so it remains on one radio station all the time and the only knob that has to be turned is the on/off knob so, I guess he can deal with that being something that he has to do with dry hands in order to be able to grip it tightly and turn it.So far, it's really great. Great sound. Many options as to where you can hang it (on your shower rod, curtain rod, shower head, towel rod) OR, you can fold back the hanging hook and have it stand on your vanity or any other convenient place. Would work well outdoors that way too, on a picnic, at the pool, in the backyard, etc.

simple and functional
This shower radio is quite simple in that it only has 3 knobs: AM/FM switch, Power/volume, and station tuning. The station tuning knob is a bit touchy, as in you have to have steady hands to hit the exact nanometer that provides the best tuning for the desired station, but once set, the station comes in quite strong.I cannot comment on longevity since we have had it only one week, but we have this hanging from the shower head, where the bend of the spout meets the shower head, and the design of the hook on the radio keeps it out of the shower stream, but allows the radio to angle downwards towards the person in the shower. I like that since it points the radio speaker right at the person showering.I disliked the fact that this shower radio uses x4 AAA batteries, because they are the most expensive kind, and the radio does not come with even the cheap knockoff batteries that so many other devices do. I had a previous shower radio that ran on a single 9v battery, which was more convenient and slightly cheaper. All said, the price was good and it seems simple enough to operate. If it stands the test of time in the moist shower environment, I will be happy. I will be pleased, at the price paid, if this lasts a year.

I think I'm in a good place to review this product
I think I'm in a good place to review this product, having the comparable Sangean and Sony units. The Sangean I would consider upper-end, the Sony middle-range, and the Jensen lower-end. The Sangean is pretty much perfect, but costs a lot for a shower unit. Our Sony just gave out, with an uncontrollable volume, after 5 years. Not bad for 5 years. I've only had the Jensen for about a week, maybe enough to address the two most often cited negatives I've seen in other reviews. Some have complained about it sounding tinny. It does, but I only listen to talk radio (NPR) and I have found that the timbre cuts through the shower noise better than the Sony. Others have complained that the controls are hard to manipulate. They are. The Sony, with its push-button controls is much easier to handle. But I only listen to one station at one volume and do not have to do much manipulating. It does, though, pretty much require two hands to turn the unit on and off: one to steady the unit, the other to turn the rotary knob. It would be nice if the Jensen had an on/off button, but, for half the price, it's a pretty good deal.

Great for some shower tunes.
I wanted to be able to listen to the radio, or music in the shower. I was looking into a waterproof bluetooth speaker to use with my iPhone. But, I didn't want to have the hassle of keeping the phone close enough to the shower or having a phone call ringing in the middle of a shower, or in the middle of a song. I read the reviews and went with the Jensen JWM-120.Pros-1)waterproof2)AA batteries3)Loud enough to hear easily over shower noise4) Analog tuner knob, you can tune in anything if you take your time.Cons-1) knobs being waterproof are stiff to turn, and are very difficult to adjust if you have wet soapy hands. I turn it on and tune in my station before getting in the shower and turn it off after I'm shaved a dressed. So it is not an issue for me, really, but others pointed it out and I will do the same . the knobs are stiff. I would ,and have, recommend the radio to anyone who wanted a waterproof shower radio.

But it works great for me
OK, yes, the damn buttons are impossible to turn when your hands are wet, making this shower radio sort of silly. But it works great for me! Sound is decent, receptions fine, battery life is good. I only have one good station here anyway (Q104.3) and I never move the dial, so I don't even bother keeping it in the shower, I just hang it off a hook nearby. The only problem I have is when that god-awful Kars for Kids commercial comes on, and then I hop out of the shower like a freak and frantically try to turn the volume knob down with my useless wet fingers. I'm gonna slip on the tiles and kill myself one day. This is really more of that commercials fault than the radios though. Why is that jingle so annoying?? And why do kids need cars anyway?!

¡Me encantó!
