I purchased this fan because my laptop was making terrible noises and shutting off after a few minutes, and an internet search told me it might be a broken fan. After watching a YouTube video of a guy doing such a repair on a similar laptop I decided to give it a shot and ordered the fan. It turned out that once I got inside, the fan was connected to another part (the fan motor?), and I wasn't willing to take that apart. By 'connected to another part' I mean that it seemed to be all one piece, but I couldn't tell exactly because it was also covered on one side with a spongy foam piece that was glued to both parts. No way was I going to tear it all apart and risk breaking everything. What I ended up doing was just cleaning the fan really well and reapplying the thermal paste (the fan came with the thermal paste). My computer turned on and runs very quietly so it seems all is well in that department.I didn't take the computer apart before I started or I would have seen that this fan is cheap (all plastic) and the original has a metal case. It shipped very quickly, and came with the thermal paste just like the description said.
