Carlink 3.0
I purchased this for my 2016 VW Passat after enabling Carplay. The cable connection was always intermittent and a pain to reconnect. After reading an online magazine’s none biased review of wireless Carplay dongles this was his recommendation. On all the dongles he carried out a software version up and some worked afterwards and some not but this one he said was flawless in setting up and worked fine after software update. I did try before this one another type and had connection issues so did a bit more research and bought this and has been great. Just note that there is a delay when pressing a button on the screen to when it activates on the phone like pausing a track or next track and this is normal for all wireless dongles.

works great !! Solves the problem of Renault connection disconnecting all the time when plugged in
Bought to solve the annoying problem Renault have with phone disconnecting all the time when plugged in. This connects 1st time and allows the screen to control the compatible apps as normal. On a long journey i would recommend plugging the phone into a charger as battery drain may flatten the phone. product is great and would recommend

Does what you want
I don’t normally write that many reviews but get the need as it meant a lot to me to see what real world users felt about this piece of kit. I have a 2020 Mercedes a class and I didn’t want to keep having to plug in my phone to access waze or audible via CarPlay. This unit bridges that gap brilliantly. Initial syncing process was very straightforward and up and running in a minute or so. It sits in the gap next to my wireless charging mat.Functionality is great. Gives full access to all CarPlay apps and really easy to use. Connection is pretty secure too. I’ve had it for about 6 weeks now and I’ve used it every day. I’ve only lost connection twice and one of those times was because I switched off Bluetooth.Overall, reliable, neat, works very well and does just what you want it to. It is a tiny bit expensive and that’s the only reason why I have given four stars.

It works 90 percent of the time (with issues). The 10 percent of the time it doesn't is a problem.
I have this mounted in the centre console of a VW Amarok, plugged in to the USB connector there. What it's good at:Replacing the need to have USB cable attached to my phone in the car. What it's bad at:Working well. When you plug this in and there is power to the ignition, the box flashed a red LED. When you have your phone connected (the instructions for setup are fine) the LED flashes green. The display does have some red background during setup and initial connection. I haven't looked too hard at v3.0 vs 2.0 but I believe the red menu was probably the only real stand out difference between the two, and it's not worth bothering with or paying more for.Once your device is setup with the Carlink, the connection is over wifi. This immediately causes problems that affect me but may not affect everyone.I use my iPhone as a hotspot for both the vehicle's connected services and an iPad pro and use them on the move and when stationary. When you are connected to the Carlink you cannot connect to the iPad or connected services, meaning one has to use bluetooth on the iPad instead (much slower) and the connected services just stop. However, if I am stationary somewhere and have switched to use the hotspot over wi-fi, then when I start to move off the wifi on my phone stays linked to the iPad, and thus the Carlink can't connect. First time round it took me a while to twig why this was. Now I know, it is just a case of 30 seconds of faffing to get to the point where the iPad isn't connected to the iPhone and the phone will connect to the Carlink.Connection issues aside, in day to day use (sometimes I am around the country for 16 hours plus a day working) the Carlink has Carplay up and running within seconds or a minute, seemingly completely at random, from starting the vehicle up. I take a lot of calls whilst in the car and another issue is that when you stop the car and turn the ignition off, the phone remains connected to the Carlink until all power is cut to the USB by the car's systems, thus if a call comes in the call is routed through the Carlink but you can't answer it as the car headunit is switched off. This doesn't happen with Carplay via a cable, it will carry on charging the phone, but the phone also knows that it is no longer connected to the actual head unit. This is a minor problem in reality but still one I notice often. When listening to music there is a marked delay anywhere from a half second to about 5 seconds when forwarding through tracks, and I have also on numerous occasions had issues with Google Maps or Waze where for no obvious reason Carplay finds itself several hundred yards behind where you actually are, and will never catch up unless you close the app and reopen it (thus having to re-enter you destination). This may be down to overheating, the wifi connection or something else, but it is random and lag is there at about half a second by default, increasing to a good 5 seconds on music and 10 seconds plus on navigation. When I receive a phone call, there is no ring noise for a good 5 seconds by default (where as message tones etc. are almost immediate). I have no idea why.If you are sat having a break from driving and catching up on Facebook or Youtube for instance, when watching a video the audio is out of sync every time without fail, to a similar degree as the lag in skipping music tracks, so again clearly a connection speed issue rather than the device being overloaded.Range wise, when looking at which brand and model to purchase, I saw a couple of other brands suggesting that their connection range was the best on the market, and I laughed on the basis that I was yet to find any wifi connected device that doesn't have a good 20 feet of range and thus discounted it.However, if you have your phone in your pocket and get out of the car to walk to the front or rear of the vehicle, the connection drops for me every time. Testing the range with uninterupted distance between me and the device via an open door, I would say the range varies from 3-5 feet (1 to 1.66 metres) depending on the colour of my clothes, or the direction of the wind (I jest, but there is no rhyme or reason to when it will cut out and why the range is reduced). It all seems negative, but I am just pointing out the negatives I have found from the device. The positives are that it does allow you to use Carplay without being physically connected to the car by a cable, the box is small and can be attached with a sticky pad or velcro to the car, it does have a USB pass through and delivery was next day; but these are all things I knew before ordering. Why haven't I returned it if it's that bad?1. It isn't that bad. 90 percent of the time it works as intended (with a small amount of lag that you get used to), and I can take photos out of the vehicle window freely (part of my work).2. Judging by most of the reviews that are genuine, the lag etc. appears to be a feature of every model from every brand out there that works in the same way. Being cable free does outweigh the negatives for me of the device's performance.3. If I wasn't in and out of the car all day, or leaning out of the window to take photos, I would be back on a cable in a heart beat though. However for my usage, it is better slightly faulty than the inconvenience of using a cable.HOWEVER, if you are looking at a device that is £60 and another that is £130, I would risk the £60 next time as I suspect the same internal chipset is in use in most of these things and reviews suggest all devices have the same problems. If the device was £50 I would give it a 4 star review. At £130 it is quite flawed.

Great product
Had this for a little over 3 weeks now in a Peugeot 208 2020. Very impressive, not much difference in performance compared to using a cable, just takes a few seconds longer to boot up but when it connects it is responsive and stable. Was a bit cautious before buying as reviews are mixed on wireless carplay adapters but this one works perfectly. Mainly bought this for convenience of being wireless but also to charge my phone using a fast charger, the carplay USB port on my car only trickle charges but now I can connect wirelessly and if I need to fast charge my phone, I can do that without sacrificing carplay.

Fit and forget.
I've owned this for about five months now. Installed in a 2017 Mercedes 220. Installation was pretty straight-forward. I realise the reviews are mixed on this, but my experience has been pretty solid. I've not touched it since I first installed it. It connects to my phone everytime- not failed once or dropped connection. Start up time is 10-20 seconds. I've used it mostly on shortish (<30 min) trips, but also on longer trips (~4 hours) and it doesn't seem to hammer the phone battery even using the maps/nav app.All in all for me it does what it's supposed to; sooooo much more convenient than the native wired CarPlay, and basically I've almost forgotten it's not part of the vehicle.

Infuriating
So slow to connect, sometimes won’t connect at all. Takes about 2 mins to connect to my phone, or sometimes doesn’t connect at all. Tried all sorts of things from resetting, deleting my wife’s phone and my own, restarting phone etc, but it’s always the same, which is maddening.Brilliant, really lawless once connected, but not reliable enough to get there. Now relegated to the glove box, I’ve gone back to using a cable for CarPlay. Really disappointing. Certainly do not recommend, I’d try a different brand, or just stick with a cable ☹️
