Product Description The Spider-Man(TM) legend continues with an epic battle against one of Spidey's greatest foes. When an alien element falls into the wrong hands, a lethal new criminal is unleashed. Experience all the high-flying animated action and spine-tingling excitement of this spectacular clash in SPIDER-MAN: THE VENOM(TM) SAGA. After rescuing the pilot of a space shuttle carrying two strange meteors, Spider-Man notices a black stain on his costume and a disturbing change in his behavior. Soon, the evil stain consumes his entire costume, and America's favorite Super Hero(TM) awakens to find himself on the run from both the authorities and his arch-enemies. Will Venom(TM) be the one to finally ground the Webslinger, or will Spider-Man be able to defeat this powerful new force? desertcart.com Venom, the scariest and most memorable villain from Spider-Man's post-Stan Lee era, takes center stage in this collection of five episodes ("The Alien Costume" parts 1-3, "Venom Returns," and "Carnage") from the Spider-Man animated series from the mid-'90s. The action begins when astronaut John Jameson discovers a strange new substance on the moon. The substance ends up becoming a new black costume for Spider-Man, and he's thrilled with the way it enhances his natural powers (such as spinning webs without mechanical web shooters) and can change into a different outfit merely upon a thought. Spidey soon discovers, however, that the apparent costume is actually an alien symbiote that is gradually taking control of his thoughts. Spidey is able to overcome the symbiote, but it finds a new host in Daily Bugle washout Eddie Brock, and their mutual hatred of Spider-Man creates a deadly new villain, Venom, whose natural powers exceed Spidey's. Things get even more complicated when Venom's "offspring" finds a host and becomes the even deadlier Carnage. Also making appearances in these episodes are the Kingpin, the Shocker, the Rhino, Dormammu, Iron Man, and War Machine. DVD features include some interesting comments by David Michelinie, who with artist Todd MacFarlane, created Venom in the comic books. Among other topics in the unnecessarily complicated feature, he discusses differences between the show and the comics. Stan Lee also boards his soap box to dish about Venom (11 minutes) and has optional introductions for each episode. --David Horiuchi Review: This 1990s Spidey Is The Best Spiderman Of All!! - There is now no doubt in my mind that this is the best of all of the Spiderman incarnations. I know that I had stated in a previous review for The Spectacular Spiderman that it was in fact better, but I must now change my mind. Although i will say that Spectacular Spiderman was still a great show in its own right. Indeed, I'd put it at #1A right behind the 1990s series. Part of my strong ratings for the series is its longevity. When it was cancelled, it was still highly rated. That cannot be said of the 2003 MTV Spiderman, which turned many off with its adult-themed topics. This DVD introduces us to "The Alien Costume, Parts I-III" and The Sins of the Fathers Chapters X-XI "Venom Returns" & "Carnage." With cameo appearances by Iron Man and Venom becoming a temporary allie of Spiderman. The complexities of the characters are what drew me to this DVD. The actor that played Carnage's voice and alter-ego was nothing but phenomenal! He gave his all and the viewer and listener believed in his psychosis as well as meglomania. I liked the evolution and deepening of Eddie Brock/Venom's character. Like in the episode "The Spot," so much can change in a man when he falls in love with a beautiful woman. The love of a beautiful woman can turn a man away from a life of crime. This is wonderfully displayed towards the end as we see Brock willing to sacrifice himself for the psychiatrist/therapist he loves. I'm so glad that I did not see this before the 2007 movie. I also never read the 1984 comic book story arc, so I had true wonder and enjoyment when I saw the final Raimi film---which I enjoyed tremendously (See My desertcart Review). This DVD has the ususal extras, paired down somewhat from the previous Spiderman DVDs, but still an interesting view. Get this DVD and you will not be disappointed. A. this Venom Saga is better than Spider-man Three
I really enjoyed this Spider-man television series and i've always thought it was one of the better ones that aired on tv, but i believed that the Venom saga was well done. I liked it so much i let a buddy keep my first copy and bought a second copy of this particular dvd. It was very good, for all ages!

A cool introduction to Venom.
The animated 90s Spider-Man cartoon Cal when it aired on Fox Kids was one of my favorite superhero cartoons alongside Batman The Animated Series. I enjoyed watching them because they were my first actual introduction to these characters before I would dive in deeper with the films, comics and video games. I picked up this DVD because it contain the entire Symbiote Saga plus the Carnage theme episodes. It was amazing seeing Venom for the first time because he was basically a cooler, darker version of Spider-Man and the Symbiote Saga in this show gave us a distilled adaptation that would be used in other Spider-Man related media especially Spider-Man 3. If you're a fan of Insomniac's Spider-Man 2 then I would recommend watching this just to see where the original source of the Venom symbiote was inspired.

VENOM RULES!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a HUGE fan of Venom. He is my favorite villian in spider-man. The story of the venom saga is great. I starts off with how the symbiote got to earth and how it bonded with Peter Parker. Then explains how the suit was eventually taken off by spider-man and then bonded with Eddie Brock. This happens in episode 3 so it's not long until venom appears. The last 2 episodes bring in the offspring of venom CARNAGE!! I loved the fact they added carnage to this saga because he does have a big part eventually becoming an enemy of venom. Finally I do have to say this was a great buy and recommend this to any venom fan!!
